The New BGO - Update

Hey everybody,
As you know, we're moving to the latest version of the vBulletin software and have been doing work behind the scenes to prepare for that. We'd hired a coder/vBulletin expert to do some of the heavy lifting for us, but that did not work out, hence the delay in getting the new board up and running.

Our original plan was to get the new board designed and then take the site down for a few days and complete the upgrade all at once, including upgrading all of our add-ons like the photo gallery, arcade, etc...

We are going to take a different approach on this 2nd attempt. In the next 10 days we will install the basic upgrade and get us on version 4.2 of vBulletin. It will not have all the bells and whistles of the current site, but we will be adding those back incrementally during the 30 days after the basic install.

We appreciate your patience as we work through the process - just wanted you to know that the initial upgrade will just be the first step in a thorough updating of BGO and all of the various add-ons we offer.

For everyone as members here, lets all do our own part in being patient as events unfold and know that what we see at first isnt what the end will be. (in short, lets not bitch! LOL)

Cool. You have my admiration for going through what must be a flood of frustrations, brain exhaustion, and occasional fits of "Dammit!" while bringing this place to the "new and improved" status.

Looking forward to watching the emergence of BGO II as it happens.

We're getting there More info to come about possible (and extremely brief) downtime. Still a ton of work to be done. We won't worry about many of the add-ons (like chat, arcade, gallery, etc...) until after go-live. Very exciting to see the new place come together. We expect to have transitioned to the new site within the next 7 days.
