The 2026 Draft Thread

There are at least 3 top 10 QBs in this draft. I don’t see us winning anymore than two more games. We could realistically be picking top 5 and could be in Reuben Bain territory

That would be welcomed considering this season is history. It would lead to the discussions of - should we trade back a lile to regain some missing picks? We will need to see how close to the ttop of the draft we fall before having that debate because we need stud talent on this roster.

Peters is going to waste the "rookie QB contract" that teams covet.
Mark it down.
This seasons huge swing and miss on personnel discussions has us teetering on missing that window.

If we are picking top 5 I would hope we trade back to recoup some of the draft capital we have wasted the past 2 years. Someone like LT Overton will most likely be available in the mid first round. Add in a second with him and that would make me happy.

We may be bad enough this season where we may be in a position to draft Reuben Bain or David Bailey

I haven't watched either one yet. But will/

Wondering about Jeremiyah Love as a possibility. if he was just a RB, I'd pass. but he's super in the passing game, too.

But too early for me to land on a player. i am just thinking now of players I've watched casually but not studied yet.

I see that as a strong possibiliy especially considering the chances of multiple top 10 QBs/

In a weird way, if Peters and Quinn can learn from this, it might be the best thing to happen to set this team up for 2026.

I do think they got a good foundations at O line. I still like the Tunsil trade. If they can regain those picks and build especially at WR and edge -- the bad season might have a silver lining.

I agree but I really think it will be a two year turnaround from where we are until we are legit. There are so many weaknesses to this ancient roster.

I was disappointed watching the strength of the team, the OL play last night. Daniels dealt with pressure on every play like he did last year and Bill was a non factor. Can't wait until they bring in more threats to the oppositions D

I just don't think any O line can deal with a game plan of being pass happy because your running game is non existent. And teams are just teeing off play after play -- where WRs aren't open so they got to protect longer.

I don't think this O line is a mirage. I think its legit.

We talk about trading players away for 2026 picks. There are not many I can see teams being interested other than a couple discussed here a few times but what about Paul? I know, he is young and home grown but will they be willing to pay his due along with all the other issues this roster has?

To follow up on my last post. And lol. no one kill me for this. But if Love is all he's cracked up to be -- that wouldn't be a crazy get.

He's not just a RB but passing weapon and apparently developing as a pass protector, too

The guy needs to be extended now. This is exactly the type of player you keep around as a building block unless you have fears about his work ethic/character

I hear you with this line of thinking. However, superstar EDGE prospects don’t come along often. I know we missed with CY but look at what Bosa has done for SF, Hutch for the Lions, etc

On top of that, we need future All Pros. We don’t have any of those on the roster now besides JD and Tunsil.

It’s not crazy given what Bijan, CMC and Gibbs have become. However, why not just sign Breece Hall, Dowdle or Ken Walker in FA?

This team has lost its mojo carry over from last season. Players will not be as willing to sign here and he may wish to test the market.

Just watched a little Reuben Bain for the first time, just highlights. He has tremendous bend. Relentless motor. Really thick body, especially his legs. with the size to stop the run.

Maybe. I haven't watched enough to judge where Love is such a different cat, that he beats by a good margin name that FA RB.

On first blush seems like Reese, P. Woods, Bain are considered the top 10 D prospects. Got ways to go of course.

if the idea is to trade down we want the QBs to go 1,2,3. Jets, Dolphins, Saints, Browns, Raiders likely shopping for one. So if yo have a worse record than them you likely can trade down while staying in the top 10.

I know its early but lol it made me feel better cramming some early draft stuff today.

On first blush, you likely got 3 QBs in the top 10. Maybe 4. Bain going top 10. Reese going top 10 but there is a chance he doesn't declare. Woods and Tyson likely top 10. Some have Love, some don't. Fano because he's a tackle likely goes top 10.

Downs has some top 10 hype but safeties often slip out of the top 10. At this point for example some had Hamilton as a top 5 pick years back.

All subject to change and will change. But heck I am bored, so just absorbing current mocks -- mainly to see who I should watch.

Early thoughts seem to be: Bain, Reese, and Woods are the star defenders. And if the QBs stay where they are at -- QBs tend to rise not fall, you might be able to get the defender of your choice at #4

Downs is possibly the best defender in the draft but you are correct in that safeties fall as we get closer to the draft. If we are closer to #10 than #5 and we take him, I can't be mad as he is possibly a future All Pro.

You should take a look at David Bailey too. He's a smaller guy at 6-3 250 but he is having a breakout season at Texas Tech with 11.5 sacks already since transferring over from Stanford.
