2025 had been one of the busiest in the history of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Two blockbuster trades, multiple huge free agency signings, and the Steelers are clearly in it to win it this season. A byproduct of bringing in guys like quarterback Aaron Rodgers, cornerbacks Darius Slay and Jalen Ramsey and finally wide receiver Robert Woods is that the Steelers are an older team than last year.
But how do they rank among the rest of the NFL?
The Steelers roster heading into training camp ranks as the second-oldest in the NFL. The average age of the Steelers is 26.82 years, with only the Washington Commanders older at 27.52 years. On the other end, you have the Green Bay Packers, who are the youngest team heading into training camp. Their average age is 25.15 years.
Is a year and a half really enough to be concerned about? It all depends. It's significant for the Steelers when you look at where the oldest players are and their role on the team. Rodgers is 41 and will be the starting quarterback and defensive tackle Cam Heyward is 36 and the leader on defense. The Steelers could have as many as 10 starters who are at least 30 years old.
