It's none of their business. Should they exclude drinkers? Red meat eaters? Soda drinkers? People who eat real butter?Ax, I'm putting you in the "it's not a big deal" group.
But does the team want to take a big financial risk on a guy coming back from another injury, who is smoking during his rehab?
Riggins smoked, drank, and played many a game hungover.I tend to agree with Ax. Although I believe I'd be a little more pissed if we found out that RG3 smoked, for example.
You hit two key points. Anything you regularly ingest into your lungs besides air, and that's questionable in some places, will damage your lungs in the long term. In the short term at a young age, you can get away with it for a while. I was more then a casual smoker in high school. I ran cross country, sprinted the 100, and ran the 440 relay. I also played soccer and baseball. I never stopped smokin, and smoked more over the years after school. I played sports into my late 20's, and never lost a step because of wind issues.People acting like smoking doesn't effect cardio or long term running are only fooling themselves.

Hank Sr. had a great song titled, "Mind Your Own Business"
One of the lines goes...
"Cause if you mind your own business, you won't be minding mine"
