With training camps starting up, NFL news is heating up.
In national NFL news, former Denver Broncos pass rusher Von Miller announced Wednesday evening that he's signing with the Washington Commanders.
As for the current Broncos, rookie cornerback Jahdae Barron, the team's first-round pick in April's draft, officially signed his four-year rookie contract on Wednesday. Denver's second-round pick, running back RJ Harvey, is among a backlog of second rounders who have been in standoffs with their clubs, hoping to secure more guaranteed money.
There may have been a breakthrough on Wednesday evening when the San Francisco 49erssigned second-round pick Alfred Collins to a four-year deal worth $10.3 million with $9 million guaranteed. That could start a chain reaction of other second rounders now agreeing to deals across the league. Collins was pick No. 43 overall in April. Harvey was pick No. 60.
The Broncos are set to begin training camp practices next week. Rookies reported Wednesday, but there's been no word on if Harvey reported. Now that a second-round pick has signed a non-fully-guaranteed deal, though, more rookies might soon follow suit, perhaps including Harvey. Stay tuned.
