REDSKINS RE-SIGN S TRENTON ROBINSON

LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. – The Washington Redskins announced today that they have re-signed safety Trenton Robinson. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Robinson (5-9, 195) was originally drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the sixth round (180th overall) of the 2012 NFL Draft. Since signing with the Redskins as a free agent on Oct. 15, 2013, Robinson has appeared in 26 games with the Redskins across the 2013-14 seasons. He recorded his first career interception in the team’s Week 2 win vs. Jacksonville last season.

Robinson played collegiately at Michigan State, where he appeared in 46 games with 32 starts from 2008-11, registering 229 tackles, nine interceptions and 12 passes defensed. As a senior in 2011, he earned first-team All-Big Ten honors and was selected alongside current Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins as a team captain.

Robinson, 25, attended Bay City (Mich.) Central H.S., where he was selected to The Detroit News and Detroit Free Press Dream Teams in 2007. He was born on Feb. 16, 1990.

It's surprising it took this long to resign Robinson, given his contributions on special teams and the exclusive rights status.
