Redskins.com: New Deal for Wilson

I really like this kid, and I'm happy we retained him. He hasn't done anything mind-blowing yet, but he's definitely shown flashes. He's the type of supporting player you need to win championships.

The Redskins have signed linebacker/defensive end Chris Wilson to a new contract, the team announced on Thursday.

Wilson had entered the offseason as a restricted free agent. He had been tendered a contract by the club at a second-round level.

Wilson, a native of Flint, Mich., is a third-year player who joined the Redskins in 2007 after two seasons in the CFL.

He was a defensive end his first two seasons with the Redskins and then transitioned to playing more outside linebacker last year.
