Redskins add RB James Davis to the Practice Squad

I remember this kid getting a lot of (fantasy) hype when he came out a couple years ago, but he got buried behind Jamal Lewis and James Harrison on the Browns depth chart. Was it the system? Not sure, but he's got a lot of potential. I also read that he was a big-time prospect coming out of Clemson until he started splitting carries with Spiller.

Time will tell, but w/ Shanahan's ability to be a king-maker, its very possible we will see Davis realize his potential in Washington.

Added bonus: his nickname is Thunder, so now our backfield could be "Thunder & Torain" or "Torain & Thunder."

Man definitely runs with attitude. Has some wiggle too, though not sure it's explosive/quick enough to work at the NFL level. Kind of guy you can't just dismiss out of hand in a Shanahan offense though ...

Interesting. My first instinct was that TD was a considerably bigger back than James Davis. More like Ryan Torain.

'twould appear there's a mold. If anything, Torain's breaking it.

The 218 thing is kinda spooky though.

Gary always looked a lot smaller than TD to me. That might be because Terrell was more of an upright runner whereas Gary always seemed to run hunched over. At any rate, I'm still a tad surprised we cut Johnson. Watching his college highlights, he has a lot more speed than Davis whereas Davis seems more in the mold of Torain and Williams. Ah well, results are the important thing.

Clinton Portis (his former, Bronco self) might have been the best of Shanahan's RBs. Not sure of his weight while playing with the Broncos, but I'd guess it's significantly smaller than those guys. Maybe 200? Different running back.
