The Green Bay Packers received their full, 17-game schedule for the 2025 season on Wednesday. The season opens in Green Bay for the first time in the Matt LaFleur and ends in Minnesota for the first time since 2015. Along the way, the Packers will play several games in primetime and face several tough stretches.
Can the Packers navigate a tricky schedule and improve on an 11-6 finish from 2024?
Some quick hit observations from the Packers' 2025 schedule:
-- The Packers are opening at home, but it's a tough two-game stretch no matter the location. Green Bay will host the Detroit Lions and Washington Commanders -- two NFC playoff teams from 2024 -- over the course of five days between Sept. 7 and Sept. 11.
-- The bye comes very early -- in Week 5. That's tough over the course of a long, 18-week season, but it's not insurmountable. The Packers do play a Thursday game in late November, which will need to serve as a mini-bye.
-- Between Week 3 and Week 8, the Packers will play just one game at home. The four road games during the six-week stretch include primetime Sunday night games in Dallas and Pittsburgh. The Packers have owned AT&T Stadium in Dallas, while the road trip to Pittsburgh could feature a showdown with Aaron Rodgers.
-- The Packers finish the season mostly away from home, with four of the final six away from Green Bay, including three of the final four. The lone home game over the final four is a visit from the Baltimore Ravens. Tough.
-- From mid-November on, the Packers only play three games at Lambeau Field. The Wisconsin cold won't be much of a factor in 2025.
-- The Packers will face the Philadelphia Eagles after the Eagles' bye week and then go to New York to play the Giants on a short week. But on first glance, it appears the Packers ended up mostly neutral on rest advantage/disadvantage in 2025.
-- The Week 7 to Week 8 travel will be interesting to see play out. The Packers don't have to travel far in 2025, but they'll go west to Phoenix in Week 7 before flying east to Pittsburgh in Week 8.
-- In a scheduling oddity, the Packers play the Bears twice in the span of three weeks. Between Week 12 and Week 16, the Packers play four NFC North game over a five-game stretch -- likely creating a crucial point of the season for determining whether the Packers can win the division.
-- The Packers avoided a Christmas Day game but will play the Lions in the early Thanksgiving Day game. Green Bay has played on Thanksgiving three straight years, including in Detroit twice in three years.
-- The Packers play six standalone or nationally televised games. They also play five noon kickoff games over a six-game stretch between Week 9 and Week 14.
