It was right after the 8th pick. Jake Locker had just been picked and the Cowboys were on the clock. Schefter is talking about Gabbert still on the board and how "the NEXT scenario for him to go is to Minnesota at twelve." Now, it could be just an oversight but I think Scheftler knew. Then a couple of days later be is talking about Beck. So did he know that we had no interest in Gabbert?

I caught that as well. Interesting...and you may well be right - he knew and it was just a verbal slip on his part. Of course, you could also chalk it up to a different kind of mental slip - he may have forgotten that the Skins had the 10th pick and presumably needed a QB. Probably just as likely a cause for a gaffe....

I'm guessing this was on NFLN? I was watching ESPN at that time.

But yes, that is interesting. He sat on it and knew.

This is an interesting topic. Remember, he and Shanahan are supposed to be very tight. Wouldn't surprise me at all to hear that Schefter knew that we weren't interested in Gabbert at all. Schefter was on Bill Simmons' podcast this week talking about this. Bill asked him how many times he thought he was fed misinformation by his sources, and Schefter vehemently denied that. Said he always deals honestly with his sources, has never revealed anything he wasn't supposed to. Said he knows a lot more about teams plans than what he tells, he doesn't want to ruin his sources.

or that he knew about Jax's interest/trade talk.

suppose there had been no trade offer...what do you think the Skins would have done?

It's all a guess but I would say Quinn.
