REDSKINS MAKE ROSTER MOVES
LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. – The Washington Redskins announced today that they have signed free agent long snapper Justin Snow to their active roster, while adding fullback Eric Kettani and running back Javarris Williams to the team’s practice squad. The team also placed long snapper Nick Sundberg on the Reserve/Injured list and designated him for return. In addition, the Redskins released running back Antwon Bailey, fullback Robert Hughes and defensive lineman Jason Shirley from the team’s practice squad.
Snow (6-3, 245) originally signed with the Indianapolis Colts as a college free agent on April 28, 2000. He was released by the Colts on Aug. 31, 2012. Snow has appeared in 192 regular season games, all with the Colts. He has amassed 60 special teams tackles and two forced fumbles.
Snow, 35, played collegiately at Baylor, where he amassed 189 tackles (117 solo), 15 tackles for loss and five sacks as a defensive end.
Snow attended Abilene (Texas) Cooper H.S. where he was an Associated Press and Texas Sportswriters Association All-State first-team selection. He was born on Dec. 21, 1976, in Ft. Worth, Texas.
Kettani (5-11, 235) originally signed with the New England Patriots as a college free agent on May 4, 2009. He was placed on the Reserve/Military list in 2009. Kettani was released from the Patriots’ practice squad on Sep. 4, 2012.
Kettani, a U.S. Naval Academy graduate and member of the Navy Reserve, was ordered into active duty service during the 2011 season.
Kettani, 25, played collegiately at the Naval Academy, where he rushed for 2,091 yards on 395 attempts and 15 touchdowns. He was the second Navy player in school history to rush for over 2,000 yards in a career.
Kettani was born on March 26, 1987, and attended Lake Catholic H.S. in Mentor, Ohio.
Williams (5-10, 223) was originally selected by the Kansas City Chiefs out of Tennessee State in the seventh round (212nd overall) of the 2009 NFL Draft. He has appeared in four regular season games for the Chiefs, all during the 2009 season. Williams has spent time on the practice squads of the Seattle Seahawks, Houston Texans and Dallas Cowboys.
Williams, 26, played collegiately at Tennessee State, where he played in 43 games with 33 starts. He finished his collegiate career with 4,329 yards on 849 attempts (5.1 avg.) with 42 touchdowns. He also had 58 career receptions for 788 yards (13.6 avg.) with two scores.
Williams was born on April 8, 1986, in Wharton, Texas, and attended Foster H.S. in Richmond, Texas.
Sundberg (6-0, 251) has appeared in 33 regular season games, all with the Redskins.
Bailey (5-7, 195) appeared in one 2012 preseason game for the Redskins.
Hughes and Shirley both joined the team’s practice squad in 2012.
