we are getting thin on the d-line. change anyone's perspective for the first 4 games?
first four games include philly, oakland, detroit, so i'm not concerned. it certainly doesn't help when going up against a team like green bay though (the other game in the first 4 weeks.)
long term it means we still don't have an answer at d line. jenkins is our best option at this point in time and that's not a very good situation.
i guess the bright side is that we've been severely handicapped since Shanahan got here - lockout and restricted free agency year 1, cap penalties years 2 and 3. yet somehow he's managed to build an offense that's returning all of it's starters off a top 5 ranking last year with some potential improvements. i think most people agree our linebacker core is significantly improved and good. the additions of ammerson and minnifield also look good.
you can't fix all the problems in one offseason and we've had 3 handicapped offseasons in a row... if d line and safety play is all that remains suspect after this year then I suppose that's not all that bad...
