When: Sunday November 10th, 2024 - 1:00pm
Where: Northwest Stadium - Landover, MD

Hopefully the fans don't let Steelers fans take over the stadium. It might be too soon to expect that though.

Well - many tickets were purchased before the season started. I wouldn’t expect skins fans to have been on it but maybe

Pittsburgh usually has a strong contingent at the stadium. I hope that’s different this time. Pittsburgh was the team that started our slide in 2008. I think it was a Sunday night game. I really want to go but the tickets are high for this one. Maybe I can snatch them up later in the week for a better price.

Some fanbases just travel well - and Steelers fans may be at the top of that list. I don’t know that there’s much that can be done about it beyond having so many season ticket holders there just aren’t available seats. And a lot would have to go right for that to happen.

It’ll take time. Home field advantage comes out of tradition, good vibes, winning, and rooting out the institutional ticket buyers who buy enormous blocks for resale. When I went to the Chicago game, there were a LOT of Bears fans. I think those days are numbered.

Because the vibe is good, the winning has started, and I do think the tradition can be revived or born anew.

One quick example, Hail to the Redskins was amazing, singing it after the scores, using it as a common cheer, and even seeing HTTR in social media was powerful and binding. HTTC never worked for me. Heck, when they played the fight song at the game I attended, "I (and I think a lot of us) still sang Redskins." So, that tradition is there, but Hail to the Commanders just feels wrong. It's awful and anti-democratic. We're not rooting for a military junta for goodness sakes! So, we need a new tradition to begin to blend in and supplant the old.

When I approached the stadium, I saw an enormous banner that must have been half a block long. It read, "Raise Hail!" My reaction on seeing it was to take my phone out of my pocket and snap a pic. I can get behind Raise Hail. I can get behind in a way I did HTTR and never could HTTC. So, moving forward... we have something new to bind us. Hail Yeah! Raise Hail!

Before the season, I had this penciled in as a potential loss, mostly as I never expected Washington to be quite this good out of the gate.
Then I started to think that they'd nail this one.

We're at Home and have developed something of a pride in homefield advantage this season.
We're playing maybe our most consistent ball on both sides of the field.
We have momentum and it's real.
Pittsburgh's win list isn't that impressive.
JD is clutch and our offense is humming. The last couple of weeks we've played defenses that have been touted in one form or another and passed the test.

I'd think I'd have felt better facing Fields that Wilson. Not that Wilson is setting the world aflame, but he is showing a willingness to pass downfield and we know how bad our pass defense is.
I don't want us to take Pittsburgh lightly, and I don't think we will. The team has seemed prepared well for every situation we've faced.

I'm also wondering what will happen at the deadline. IT would be nice to see some help coming aboard in the pass defense department. :D

Great cameras think alike, Boone.

Wasn't that the game where some steelers fan put his hot charcoal grill back into his vehicle which then burnt up a dozen cars? That happened in our lot but thankfully, we were a few cars away from it.

I couldn't imagine finding my car burnt up after the game.

I have mixed memories about that game. I went with a date who was a Steelers fan. The takeover of the stadium was depressing. The game didn't end well, the night, on the other hand ....

Another game against a good defense coming off a bye. I hold the coaching abilities of Tomlin in a much higher regard than Eberflus. Other than maybe the Ravens game I think this will be the biggest test of the season to date.

If defense can get to Wilson...

Steelers are averaging about 30 points a game over the past 3 games, their defense is definitely better than the Ravens defense too.

Might turn into a shootout.

I agree that disrupting RW is the key. He can still be a dangerous QB but he is prone to press and make dumb decisions if you rough him up a little.

I sense another grind it out game, hopefully we have BRob we're gonna need a bruiser running up the gut.

So I’m going to the game with like 20 Steelers fans. Several are riding with me. It’s my best friends family - they’re all native to Pitt. Got huge season ticket packages, go to the playoff and super bowls, and generally roll to road games whenever convenient.

So once I got wind I’m going with them… well see I bought a new truck. And I put a tonau cover on that has t Slotted rails so I can mount things above my cover.

So I sure as shit went and bought two flag poll holders, 2 flag poles, and 2 giant redskins flags off eBay.

The bolts to mount it should be here tomorrow. The people riding with me will get the house Saturday.

And when we roll out Sunday morning at 7 am they’ll realize they have to ride around in a truck with giant redskins flags all over it :)
