So I'm sitting here torturing myself with this mega craptastic game and it suddenly occurs to me that what's really wrong is my perception of things. So, with that in mind here's my glass half-full approach.

Our running game is now every bit as good as our passing game.

Half the fans in the stadium=markedly less booing heard on TV coverage.

Samuels' injury opens Zorn's eyes to existence of right side of offense.

No need to tune out arrogance from 5th string game announcing crew.

Benching JC greatly reduces chances of overtime.

Our offensive ineptitude means we mostly see the only NFL-worthy units on our team, i.e. defense and special teams.

Ahhh, it's so much better looking at things in a more positive light. Positivity RULES!!!

*Edit* Evidently positive thinking must be working after all. Technical difficulties with the network feed has saved me from my penchant for self-punishment.

Mike will still beat you in the positive department, but it was a much better effort than I could ever muster after watching even parts of that turd of a game

Positive: I won't be wasting the remainder of the season watching horrible football or wasting my time going to these games.

Positive: I save a couple grand by not wasting them on season tickets anymore.

Positives: I have a beautiful filipina wife and a great daughter. We can move to the Philippines in a few years and I can watch 30 basketball games a year, and have all my libations and eats at the games, for the same price as watching a Redskin game. Afterwards, I can go to the beach and have a meal of shrimp and lobster for about $5.

Whoa. Are you serious, WD? Didn't think I'd read that in one of your posts.

Positive: I was able to attend a Redskins' game w/out having to spend a dime.

Oh wait! Is that a positive?

BRD,
I skipped today's game primarily b/c of the weather. It seemed that there was going to be the same type of weather that occured last year at the Giants game and right now, I can't really afford to be sick.

Now I've been planning to still go to the Broncos, Saints and Cowboys games ( No way I could put up with Eagle and Giant fans this year) but I'm telling you it's hard watching this team and listening to this.

The worst part is that not only do I take this losing personal as a fan but I like these guys and I like Zorn. I want this team to win for many reasons and it's hard to go week in and week out hoping for the magical "switch" to come on when I know that the team neither has the players or possibly the scheme/coaching to do this.

It is sad that for years The Fans (the people who cheer for the teams but are supposed to know nothing about actual football operations outside of Madden according to the media and football people) have seen it coming but the guys up top have had no clue.....one could even argue that with Joe Gibbs in his second tenure.

I am becoming disenfranchised and the last time this happened, I quit being an Orioles fan and really haven't given a crap about baseball since (although I technically root for the Nationals now).

Now I don't see my fandom for the Skins ever falling off that much, but season tickets cost a lot and I hate wasting them or having to resell them because I don't want to waste my time on a team that's not worth all the effort, time and money that I put into it.

2009 may just be like many of the Turner years, where I just tune out until this team can start to show up and do something other that fail.
And then I get back up and get right into draft mode for 2010.

As for the tickets, the Redskins have treated many of their holders poorly and I consider myself one of them. It may just be better to go Stub Hub in the future and go to a few games a year and save some $$$.

Well if this year ends up as bad as it's looking right now, then on the positive side...we have nowhere to go but up.

The bright side is get to watch my beloved Skins win a big game next week.

Did I mention the small detail about putting in a Super Bowl DVD versus watching the Eagles game.

I think the biggest difference is that the Redskins games are really a non-event in a lot of ways now. I find the results far less taxing and actually enjoy watching the Giants and Jets play. I can deal with not having that agonizing feeling all day. It's kinda nice actually.

See this is what kinda frustrates the hell out of me. This indifference is concerning because it is an indication of the level of **** we have to endure. I went to the game yesterday, I cheered on the Skins, was a little disheartened by the booing of our team but sat there almost numb afterward.

I don't ever remember feeling numb after a Redskins' game. Angry, elated, or even disgusted just a week ago are feelings that are normal for me. I remember being angry until Wednesday or Thursday after a Skins' loss.

But the level of indifference I feel and I see in so many of us is what is most heartbreaking. From the looks of it, many of us on this site have been rooting the Skins for a long time, does anybody ever remember feeling this apathetic or dispassionate about the Skins?

No. It's funny that you raise the point that way Elephant. I was just thinking this morning about how different the 'feeling' of even watching the game on TV has become. Even last season, when we were playing badly, and in my heart I'd sort of know we would likely find some way to lose the close ones, I still had that adrenaline rush, I'd allow nothing to interrupt the game - I'd have a plan in place beforehand so it couldn't possibly occur - and I'd be totally into it.

Yesterday, my in-laws stopped in on the way back from Georgia. I turned on the DVR and went and chatted with them for an hour. Then came back and watched the last 45 minutes of the game.

I would never have done that even a year ago. Didn't even blink an eye doing it yesterday.

Numb...painfully accurate description of how I felt yesterday when it was over.

Wonder what state of being comes after numb? I think we've all moved past being pissed off, either at losing close ones or the state of the team.

Apathy I guess. Not caring at all? Finding other more fun things to do, like cleaning the gutters?

Thanks danny, you miserable little weasel
