Sure, that way in the off-season we would not have to keep either Rex or Beck while we draft a QB of the future and sign Matt Flynn.

1. Flynn
2. Orton
3. Rookie w/ clip board.

I'd be VERY surprised to have two vets listed ahead of a first round draft choice. Then again, Shanahan has already left me scratching my head more often than I'd like.

I see why this is here but it is only Redskin related in the abstract right now so I am moving it to the NFL forum. Should the Skins puck Orton up, either off waivers or as a FA, I will move it back.

Man, thankfully we didn't waste ANOTHER draft pick trading for a guy who would eventually be released, as some were advocating. There might have been riots in DC!

Sorry Neo, I put it in SoW because of all the discussions we had in the offseason about trading for him or picking him up if he were cut.

I would prefer we don't see him here. We don't need anything that might distract Shanahan from taking a QB in the first.

Tebow was inserted because of fan pressure more than anything else. With our O-Line woes, I can't see Orton helping much here for the short term because he's not much more mobile than Grossman, although he's better than Beck.

In fairness to Orton, Mike, they were 3-10 with him under center last year as much because their defense couldn't stop anyone as over anything he did. They gave up 59 and 39 to Oakland, 33 and 36 to San Diego, 43 to Arizona, and 31 to Baltimore. Really tough to win giving up those kinds of numbers to your opponent.

Granted, the offense out there wasn't great all the time either...

Orton is basically Rex Grossman, except Rex has the advantage of knowing the offense. If we're going the keep rookie on the bench for a season or so route, just keep Rex. However, if we use our first on a QB, I can't imagine he doesn't start immediately.

Looks like the Chiefs claimed Orton. I guess we could have had him since the Chiefs have a better record than us. As far as the Chiefs go, I don't really understand this move. What do they have to gain? They are out of the playoffs...

I don't see it...

Lots of chatter today on the radio had the Falcons looking at him, just to screw the Bears. Not sure why the Chefs would want him though...

They are only 2 games back of division leader Oakland, 1 game back of Denver and the play both of them again. They aren't out of it yet. Not in the AFC West where 9-7 could very well win it.
