Kyle Orton waived by Broncos

There was talk about getting him this past offseason. While I think he ends up with the Bears, would you still want him this late in the season?

I'd be VERY surprised to have two vets listed ahead of a first round draft choice. Then again, Shanahan has already left me scratching my head more often than I'd like.

I would prefer we don't see him here. We don't need anything that might distract Shanahan from taking a QB in the first.

Tebow was inserted because of fan pressure more than anything else. With our O-Line woes, I can't see Orton helping much here for the short term because he's not much more mobile than Grossman, although he's better than Beck.

Signing Orton will be a real KO for the offence, in more ways that one!

In fairness to Orton, Mike, they were 3-10 with him under center last year as much because their defense couldn't stop anyone as over anything he did. They gave up 59 and 39 to Oakland, 33 and 36 to San Diego, 43 to Arizona, and 31 to Baltimore. Really tough to win giving up those kinds of numbers to your opponent.

Granted, the offense out there wasn't great all the time either...

Orton is basically Rex Grossman, except Rex has the advantage of knowing the offense. If we're going the keep rookie on the bench for a season or so route, just keep Rex. However, if we use our first on a QB, I can't imagine he doesn't start immediately.

They are only 2 games back of division leader Oakland, 1 game back of Denver and the play both of them again. They aren't out of it yet. Not in the AFC West where 9-7 could very well win it.
