They say you shouldn’t tempt fate. They say the Observer Effect is real. Fuck ‘em. Five weeks in, I’m willing to risk it.

It’s the journey right?

I thought this one might go to Caleb

Well, if you needed a franchise quarterback and you were willing to make trades or tank to get into the top couple of picks, 2024 was definitely the year (y)

It's all about timing.

Trading Chase Young and Montez Sweat garnered draft picks, but it also helped to guarantee that Washington would be in the top few picks in the draft and have a chance to take a generational player, which was worth WAY more than those Day 2 picks.

I remember when the Caps dealt a number of players to tank to get into the top of the draft in 2004 when Ovechkin and Malkin, both HOFers, came out the same year.

The trouble with the Wizards is they never seem to get the #1 or #2 overall pick when there is a generational player available to take.

Also, gotta thank Riverboat Ron for not going for 2 vs the Eagles.

He very likely snatched at least 1 more loss right there. The team went on its run of ineptitude after that decision.

yep, when in 4 years your high water mark is going 7-9 in 2020 you know it is time to go :dunce2:

I think the funniest thing about the ROTW debate are Chicago fans griping about how the Commanders have too big a fanbase.

Chicago and Cleveland are two teams that have had even worse performances from quarterbacks than Washington over the years. Nothing but busts and trades for veterans that backfire.

Fans are VERY fragile in Chicago in re any criticism of Caleb Williams or failure to give him plaudits when he does well.

For them, I think they are lucky that like Washington they got a top pick in a year where there were two franchise quarterbacks available.

Williams to me is going to be fine. He and Daniels look to be the top of the heap, with Nix looking like a good bet to being a solid to good starter in the NFL.

Even if a Penix or McCarthy ultimately is a bust, 2024 I think will still be remembered as a good year for quarterbacks.

I agree that Caleb will be just fine. I’m also glad that Chicago selected him and not Jayden.

Caleb and Jayden fit the teams they went to well. I don't think Caleb would have started out as well here. Fewer weapons and a team with a lot of baggage to overcome from the Snyder years with fans and media. Jayden seems particularly well-suited in terms of maturity to take that challenge on.

The things that are impressive - no scores under 20 points no multiple INTS no games where he looked lost

This view shows the true perspective of how good of a throw this is... The throw to Terry when he's rolling right is good but it's down field and you put it out there and let Terry make a play.

This throw? THIS? This is a defender in trail technique, a sideline to the right, and endzone end line ahead and he drops it in a bucket

No. No, the rest of the league should not invest in BR tech. It’s ours. Ours!!!
