The one thing we know about the NFL is that success isn't linear. Just because a team is good one year doesn't mean it will be the next, and this also applies to players like Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels.

And maybe it applies to the New York Giants as well.

The schedule for 2025 is being leaked, and we now know that ...

1 - The Commanders will open at home against the Giants.

And ...

2 - The Giants' Week 2 game is at the Dallas Cowboys.

So New York opens with back-to-back roadies (tough!) ... and we find out about any Daniels "sophomore slump'' as it relates to the NFC East right off the bat.

Daniels is coming off a superb rookie season, during which he led the team to a 12-5 record and an NFC Championship appearance. For his efforts, he also won the Offensive Rookie of the Year award.

That brings Year 2 into focus. While some are hesitant to claim that Jayden's ascension will continue in 2025, others, like Pro Football Focus, are all in on Daniels the player.

The publication has named Jayden as one player who could become the best at his position by season's end.

"Washington quarterback Jayden Daniels is fresh off a scintillating rookie season in which he ranked fifth in both overall grade and passing grade while leading his team to the NFC championship game," Pro Football Focus writes. "He also recorded the league’s lowest turnover-worthy play rate at just 1.5% and earned an elite 90.0 rushing grade.

"Daniels’ dual-threat ability, combined with Washington’s key offensive additions — including Deebo Samuel and Laremy Tunsil — puts him in a position to potentially join the NFL’s elite quarterback tier."

That is a big call.

Can the Giants, a 3-win team a year ago going against a 12-win DC club, counter it with Russell Wilson and company?

To do so?

Start with knowing that Daniels is now thought of in the same breath as Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, Joe Burrow, and Jalen Hurts.

Quite a leap. ... with both the Giants and the Commanders having something to prove early on.
