Just a general heads up, mis amigos.
We've had some discussion lately about the occasional issues folks are having with slow load times. We're attacking the problem on multiple fronts.
One, we're bringing in a Cleaner to kick the tires, reboot the flux capacitor, vacuum the custom floormats and generally make sure we're 'optimized' and running as smooth as the software allows.
Two, we're looking into upgrading the server. Sometimes size matters.
And three ... we've slapped together an alternative "skin" that so far seems to run like a bionic cheetah. It's pretty much the base vBulletin platform, sans the dozens of add-ons and special features we've installed to the "Explode" skin we've had since we opened.
At lower left of any BGO page you'll see a drop-down box that allows you to choose between the "fixed" and "fluid" Explode skins. Those remain.
You'll also now see a choice labeled "Default." That would be BGO Lite.
It is still not quite finished....there remain numerous aesthetic tweaks that we'll be addressing over the coming days--some of which you will notice, others only us true OCD types will ever know about.
Use it as your default skin if you wish, or perhaps just when you're swinging by for a quick scan of the latest threads and posts. We may even find that on game days or other higher traffic days it will prove a good option for everyone.
It's running pretty quick at the moment, and that's what we're committed to maintaining. The bells and whistles and features are fun, no doubt ... but sometimes all you want is a quickie. We get that.
