Crazy that it’s been that long. I remember during the later Gibbs and Zorn days, it was all short passes. I was at game 2 with McNabb and he went deep and the guy next to me got all excited and grabbed my arm and kept yelling “it’s a bomb, it’s a bomb.” I can’t even remember if it was completed, but I remember how excited we all were that one was even thrown after years of short passes. I feel like this is the only team in the league that goes through these long stretches of years without throwing the ball deep consistently.

I think Howell showed enough to think this team with his stronger arm and athleticism might have squeaked out one or two more wins to make the playoffs.

In my mind 2022 was a lot like 2020, just that the division was a lot better.

We had Dwayne Haskins going 1-4 in his starts and then Smith/Heinicke going 6-3 to help the team make the playoffs.

This year the 2-5 record posted when Wentz was on the field was just too much to overcome.

Going back to 2020 only a man desperate for a head coaching job agrees to start Dwayne Haskins in his inaugural season without the ability to evaluate him properly first.

Snyder is interviewing coaches and other team executives that are so anxious to get paid that they are willing to accept any stupid terms Dan gives them.

Workouts have changed a bit since I was in high school. Lord. And I'm pretty sure no coach ever told me to squeeze my glute.

That said, fucking go Sam.

It's amazing and probably awful that I have never even tried a number of those exercises

Power in sports movements (baseball, golf, tennis swings and throwing motion) are generated by glute and core strength. Glad to see that his coach is heavily focused on those muscle groups.

Sam Howell to me reminds me of Trent Green.

He sat on the bench as the #3 quarterback while the 'genius' coach Norv Turner was fooling around with Heath Shuler and Gus Frerotte and then went 5-3 when he finally got on the field and showed what he could do.

The next season he signed with the Rams and then became a 4 time pro bowler with Kansas City.

I think this represents the org actually hearing the fanbase and wanting to see what we have in the youngster before spending capital on another big potential disappointment.

Hopefully Howell will be ‘ready’.

This is the right move. Even if it doesn’t work out it’s the right move
I think this is an important thing to keep in mind. I’m hoping the kid plays well, but even if he doesn’t, this is still the right thing to do.

I love how the media is so incredulous over the idea that Howell might be the QB1 for Washington this next year because he was a 5th round choice. Do they not remember that they themselves had him ranked as a first-round pick just the year before? Do they forget that KC traded Alex Smith to Washington so they could start Patrick Mahomes after he played just one game his rookie season? And after Smith had one of his best years as a pro?

I'm not saying Howell will be the next Mahomes here either. Just saying this isn't a first in today's NFL and, with the salary cap and how much franchise QBs cost against it, this will become a more regular thing.
