How was the experience?
Lots of fun.
I've been to quite a few TC's, over the years, but this was my first OTA. I almost didn't go, but I needed my fix, so I went and I'm glad that I did.
It was a STH by invite only event, and they did it up right. They had a very impressive breakfast spread, complete with omelette stations, taters, fresh fruit, oatmeal, pastries, a nice selection of teas, and even the coffee was decent.
The grub was available for most of the practice, and the water, juice & soft drinks were available the whole time. You could also chill in the shade, and seesome of the action.
There were, maybe, 100 people there, so you could set up anywhere. The staff was very friendly.
As far as football goes, I spents so much time catching up with friends, that I didn't pay as much attention as I usually do.
What stuck out?
Wentz. He was running the show and, Man, he has a great arm and a very quick release.
Dotson. He's as advertised. If you played a drinking game, (where you take a shot for every one he dropped), you would've left with a BA level of 0.0.
Gibson. Not overly impressed, he seemed to be dogging it...not sure what was going on there...maybe it was just a bad day.
It's tough to get a read on the line play, until they start hitting.
This would've been the perfect practice for autograph and/or picture hounds. A lot of players and coaches would stop for both. I found Curtis Samuel, Wentz & Rivera, to be friendly and engaging.
The whole practice and atmosphere were great. Everyone was upbeat. I'm no Wentz fanboy, but his confidence and enthusiasm was, (were?), infectious.
No pics allowed of practice, but you could take them afterwards. The players do not have to do so, but many did.
The first pic is Curtis Samuel. He was really cool and I'm really pulling for him this year
