Going into the Season Lookout(s)

well...it's here at last. all unknown. what to look for? My list is pretty simple (I haven't had a lot of time to think about this other than some ideas Serv's most excellent post stimulated):

- everyone is focused on Robert, specifically the knee. I just need to see a couple plays...a couple slides....good to go. QBs this weekend were getting banged pretty well. So - this one includes pass pro...GOT IT RBs & O-LINE?!!!

- my real unknown: the defense. yea, looked good in pre-season. but that means next to nothing. given pass happy NFL, doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand two things: line has to apply pressure - quickly; secondary needs to be on top of the receivers. I have no clue how this is going to go. even if tonight works out ok, I'm still reserving judgment until the GB game when we play a team with an established system and a top flight QB. I thought the run-D was suspect at times during pre-season so that's something that this game will reveal more insights into.

so, this game will likely be about offense and will be high scoring. but the insights into what kind of season we can expect will really be whether or not the defense has moved from so so last season to a unit that can actually stop 3rd downs routinely and elevate it's pass defense.

- d line getting pressure we never saw last year. they did well in preseason, can they do it in regular season?
- griffin executing the read option well. lots of teams tried it this weekend and it didn't work for them because there was never a dual threat (romo and the cowboys come to mind.) i'd like to see griffins how the rest of the league how it's done.
- defensive backs have a lot to prove. rambo needs to play smart, the rest need to play physical against these wr's.
lastly
- going up against a new offense and defense with no tape. i want to see our coaches make the necessary halftime adjustments to win the game. i want to not only outplay the eagles, i want to out coach them.

I'd like to see us crush the Iggles. no mercy.

they killed us on a Monday night when spurrier was coach. and they walloped us w/Vick a couple seasons ago on another nationally televised game. I'd like to see a 21-30 point margin of kill...errrr...victory.

Yeah I could see this fast paced offense being as much fun for Vick as Shanahans offense was for Nugget. I'm hoping for 4-5 turnovers and if that happens our offense might never leave the field. 40+ mins of TOP.

The only thing slower than a NT running back an INT is Vick's brain. I have a feeling this game could get ugly and in a hurry.

Rambo and Amerson were both very susceptible to the play-action pass their final years of school; I think the Eagles will look to exploit this with DeSean Jackson over the top. I hope they are not as successful as they were with Landry a couple years ago.

All reports say Morris looks quicker and better this offseason - the Eagles D is a prime candidate for him to demolish. Will he? I certainly hope so.

Garçon got off to a blazing start last year, however obviously his season was derailed early on. Can he stay on the field all 16 games this year? Could set some Redskins records if so.
