Basically someone attacked one of the major 'Address Books' for the internet (for lack of a better word).

Sites, email, internet-based phone systems, servers, etc can all be down.

If you, or your company, is working on something important (deliverables and what have you) you're better off picking up the phone and dialing the numbers like you did when the dinosaurs were around instead of relying on an email (thats both sending/receiving).


You've been warned. Who knows how long this will last.

GoDaddy got hacked. Anything associated with it is down.

Yeah their DNS services were attacked. So if you're trying to get to a service that requires looking up a DNS entry on Godaddy you're not going to get to it.

Rumor is they're restoring items one by one as they wiped some of the DNS servers...

definitely regional. I have clients all across the country and some are ok. seems south and east are bad.

Damn. Our email has been out all day, just got it back an hour ago.

Why does this happen?

Because GoDaddy sponsored the controversial SOPA/Protect IP acts that was going to give the Federal Government the ability to shut down the internet whenever they decided to, or to force any website/domain to go offline without probable cause, etc etc etc.

They've been a target ever since.

Someone got them good today. Real good. We're looking at going on 4 hours of down time now.

Depending on Godaddy's response my job tomorrow may be to move ~20 accounts out of Godaddy.

It isn't just godaddy. I have a hotmail account and verizon account that were down all day.
