i've been looking at alot of game of our opponets we've faced thus far and our biggest issue is tha pass rush ...i think if are safetys or CB"S have to cover for so long they get beat ....are problem is pass rush ...DB'S can't cover that long with out getting beat ...what do u guys think bout this ...or is it just me ! bengals got to burger alot of times and made it a close game ...we DID NOT touch him , like we sould've !
:uhoh:

**** that ../.alot of you guys say it was tha DB'S fault ....but when hall had those 4 interceptions against tha bears your were lovin him !JUST SAYIN FAMS !

TRUTH IS WE NEED HELP ..BUT TWO FACE FANS WE DON'T NEED UM !

Yeah, I was sawing logs at 2am, sorry man.

To your point, I agree. Our secondary is simply not good enough to cover for more than a short, short period of time without pressure on the QB. Even Cam may pick us apart this weekend.

Reads like some drunk postin' to me! Not that I'VE ever done that before! :paranoid:

To the point of the thread - no, I disagree. The secondary is atrocious. A lot of offenses are employing quick passes against us to beat the blitz, and the DBs can't cover those either.

not all of us are up at 2 AM :)

i disagree with you though. if we rush more they just throw very quick passes. we've been destroyed doing that. our cb's and safety's can't cover for 1 second to allow us to send extra guys.

the biggest issue is the lack of a NT, it creates no opportunities for one on ones on the edge, but the biggest hole in this defence overall isnt the front 7 which is decent if not solid, but the secondary which is terrible. we need to be creative and cover up holes, I just dont see much adjusting.

Started logging single vs dbl and triple teams vs coefield and then vs casey hampton after the game.. I got depressed when I proved to myself in the first 2 series that coefield is handled with a single blocker the majority of the time. He is doubled and at times even tripled, but the difference is very obvious.

Deadmoney- exactly, Haslett is clueless, he said he wanted us to run the steelers version of the 3-4 but in reality before Carriker got hurt we ran something much like the Cowboys version, in the steelers version you have a big nose who gets doubeled, n the cowboys version its a DE who plays that role. I prefer the steelers version of the 3-4 but I vastly prefer a 4-3 as you can hide holes more easily on defence that way. we just dont have anyone who demands a double.

Our defense is struggling as a whole. Lack of pass rush has a big part of it, but you can't tell me that the defensive backs we have aren't responsible in part.

The front seven hasn't been getting a pass rush, which yes, causes the DB's to have to cover longer. That being said... when was the last time the word "Coverage Sack" was used in reference to the Washington Redskins. It has been a LONG time.. There have been times where the quarterback can just hang out in the pocket but were also getting beat on the short to intermediate routes. Last week, the Steelers 'dinked and dunked' their way down the field and our secondary could not keep up.

All of our defensive units need to accent each other.... not one unit is 100% to blame, but none of them are keeping up their end of the deal either.

Pressure has been a problem in general, but not against Pittsburgh. Ben was getting rid of the ball in 2.5 seconds or less a vast majority of the game. That's not necessarily on the pass rush, that's on coverage. That's not to say we don't have an issue there, but it's not the only thing to blame. The rush and the coverage units have been horrendous.

We don't really have any elite players right now on our D-Line or in our secondary. Some of them are pretty good but without the proper scheme, pretty good isn't enough. A lot of this is on Haslett.

Defensively, I think our personnel is probably about average yet there are plenty of other teams with average personnel that outrank us. Quite often, our secondary doesn't seem to be on the same page as the rest of the defense. Is that on Morris or Haslett? Either way, I have to wonder if those two are actually working together or if Haslett really sucks that bad.

I have to believe you're not familiar with my stance on Haslett.

I think he stinks. He's stunk every where he's been. Even Pittsburgh. Those defenses got worse each year he was there. He stunk in St. Louis. He stunk in New Orleans.

He might have been good with the Florida Tuskers, but, uhh, who cares?

And he stinks with us.

That said, our personnel isn't great. But who's responsible for the personnel? Haslett.

with us needing help on defense , we didn't even try to pick anyone up ! aqib talib going to tha pats for a 4th or 5th pick ...we could've use a corner !
