What did they do to themselves during the bye? I mean I can understand why the O has fallen apart. Fifty percent of the team is on IR, but the D can't tackle, cover, or even get pressure anymore. How did they so completely fall apart...

What happened at the bye to completely erase this team's competence or fight? It didn't even really look like they were trying and three teams have shredded the D in a row and Beck was sacked 9 times by a team that had only got 4 in its first six or seven games?

It's insane.

I don't know if anyone has an answer or if I'm just venting, but as Charlie Brown said when looking at the Redskins

"Good Grief! I can't stand it!"

I'm with ya.

Guess we'll all be spending more time with the family on Sundays!

It's a good question, Burgold. As far as I can see, every aspect of the team has regressed, and I can't figure out why. The fact that the Bills have one of the worst defenses in the league and we couldn't muster any points at all against them is pathetic.

Points? We couldn't even get any yards! A first down was a bloody miracle.

With today's win the Cincinnati Bengals will be 5-2.

Let that sink in.

I mean there is that. We chose to neglect both the o-line and qb in the draft... and in free agency too really. Kinda bizarre considering how poor our o-line and qb play was the year before. I could understand passing on the passers, but why this team hates drafting 300 lbers is something I just can't understand.

To be fair, Jenkins and Kerrigan both looked to be great choices, but still... somewhere wasn't there an o lineman or three worth grabbing?

:insane: It was there all along. You were just sippin on some Koolaid.

Exactly. The 3-1 record was a mirage and highly mis-leading.
Amazing how people read into things too much.

Starting with the first win, it was against a Giants team, that was off to a slow start, and even then, they've been up and down, losing to the Seahawks, and nearly losing to the atrocious Dolphins today. Giants have a way of "playing down" to some teams, much like we do.

Then we beat the sinking Cardinals by a measley ONE point and some luck.

And for that "whopping" third win, we BARELY beat arguably the worst team in the league, the Rams.

So, where does that leave us ? It should leave us totally unsurprised at the recent outcomes against the better teams we've played the last 3 weeks.

We did actually PLAY those games. It wasn't a mirage. We played them, and won 3 out of 4 of them. It's not on those that want to believe we can be competitive every week that we aren't competitive every week.

Sorry.

Those that predict doom and then say 'See - I told you idiots we'd suck' ... well, I hope that provides some comfort.

I'm not ashamed to say I not only hoped for better, I expected it. If that makes me a fool, I can live with it.

Well if we can't agree on that, then I would point to that stat that Henry brought up in a thread a while ago, which totally coincides with, and makes sense out of this. Over the past decade or more, no matter how good we start, or seem to start, the tide turns, and we start to basically suck during the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th quarters of the season (quarters of the season that is, not quarters in a game) So our true colors show up late in the season. And bringing up another point previously made, perhaps the reason for our misleading fast starts, is a certain unfamiliarity teams have against our systems, which they quickly figure out, after 4 or so games.

Was it a mirage? I don't know, but I do believe there is a difference in tackling. So many more broken tackles. There's a difference in coverage. So many WIDE open receivers. We led the league in making folks punt. We were co-leaders in sacks.

Yes, we were poor on offense, but the d was playing solidly to very well. Now, the d is arguably as bad or worse than the offense.

Something happened. Either it was a mirage or we were figured out or something else, but Lucy's been pulling that football away.

I understand the O falling apart. I do not get the D's utter demise... esp. in the first halves of games.

I watched a team today live in person that flat out lacked desire.

It looked like too many guys were just going through the motions based on the view I had.

If I'm not mistaken, we crossed midfield on offense once, maybe twice?

It's sad when you expect the worst for this team, and they play even worse than you expected them too.

Sooner or later, something's got to give.

On the bright side, all the Brian Orakpo/Geico Caveman commercials are hilarious.

Add to that, the Cowboys are getting their arses whooped tonite.

See, life isn't so bad.
But an Eagles win tonight puts us in sole possession of last place.

Like a fluke win by us was going to propel this talentless team to greatness?

As Chris Carter would say: C'mon man.

We are what our record says we are.

As I was loudly bemoaning the play of the 'skins today my wife (who hates football and doesn't follow it at all) asked me why the Redskins suck every year.

I thought of about a dozen reasons why, but in the end just shook my head and said "I don't know." At some point there really needs to be some improvement, but I just can't see it or when it will happen. I'm sure when the offseason rolls around my optimism will regenerate, but for now it is depressing to already be thinking of the offseason when the regular season isn't even half over yet.

we werent good, we arent good, and we arent gonna be good for a while, just accept it and see the good things that we can actually be happy about.
1- Kerrigan is a keeper, even if jenkins doesnt come back from the knee, Kerrigan makes this draft solid. If Jenkins manages to come back and be a player? then the draft was good even if the wrs never pan out.
2- we found a punter, with an offence like ours, this was huge.
3- hopefully with all the injuries, WE WILL START PLAYING ALL OUR YOUNGS GUYS, AND BRING UP CROMPTON.

truth is we covered a lot of lacks on defence by getting pressure and being aggressive, but this defence is still terrible, still leaves massive gaps, still doesnt tackle worth a damn and is still schemed by a guy who would get outcoached by a peewee coach. who the eff rushes 3 on second and short?

If we don't improve a bit, it means we arent schemeing for the players we have we are still schemeing for the players we want, the same thing we did last year, and on offence that works even less well than it does on defence.

I am not happy to be saying I told you so, it sucks, I would love for these asshats to prove me wrong, we will win another game this year, simply because losing is better for us lol

Bingo. Couldn't agree more. For years we have ben screaming that we need to rebuild, and it looks like that is finally what is going on. So I hope they go balls to the walls and start playing the young guys. All of them. I could take inept play a lot better if I knew the kids were making rookie mistakes and would learn from them. When I see DHall giving up 10 yard cushions, whiffing on tackles and acting like an asshat, that's when I get mad. Sit his ass down and play Barnes and Thompson. We need to see what the kids can do and give them some experience.

You can't sit a guy like London who gives his heart and soul on every effin' down. But there aren't many guys like that on this team. Sit as many as you can to give th ekids experience and let's move on.

Just how bad have we become that at 3-3, and now 3-4 almost everyone has thrown in the towel. Normally, I'd be cursing at all of you for lacking spine, but it just seems so justified. The last two games we looked like the trash of the league. Absolutely terrible, with no silver linings.

Yep, I am one of the more optimistic, homerish fans you'll ever meet, but yesterday was pathetic. At least with the Carolina game I could rationalize it to myself by arguing that I think Cam's run really deflated the entire team. This week? Ugh. Just flat across the board. It almost looked like Shanny lost the team.
