As much as I love those old warbirds, perhaps it's time to either place much, much stricter airworthiness standards on them or have them retired. On average, the aiirframes are going on 70 years old. Earlier this year a B-17 bomber went down due to mechanical failure and now this.

Toll is now nine dead. Those who are listed as critical are not out of the woods just yet - hope that will change.

As for flying these warbirds - an airshow is fine. Racing them is not a good idea. Racing aircraft with frame that are seventy and eighty years old is not a good thing. Reno has had several crashes and fatalities in recent years. Not good.

Another one goes down - this was in West Virginia. Post WWII trainer - pilot killed.
