The Washington Commanders won 12 games last season, reached the NFC championship game and have one of the NFL's top young quarterbacks (Jayden Daniels). Apparently, that does not impress EA Sports and Madden NFL 26.
In this year's Madden 26 beta, the Commanders have a team rating of 78 — third-worst in the NFL. The only two teams with lower team ratings are the Arizona Cardinals (76) and the New York Giants (75). For some context, the Giants picked third in the 2025 NFL draft.
It's early, and these ratings can and will change. But why is Washington ranked so low? Considering that Daniels will be one of the best quarterbacks in the game and the Commanders beefed up the offensive line and added wide receiver Deebo Samuel, the offense should remain elite.
Somehow, the defending Super Bowl champion Eagles received an 86 rating, with eight teams ahead of them, including the Dallas Cowboys (88). How is Dallas ranked ahead of Philadelphia? Based on last season and their respective moves this offseason, the Cowboys should be ranked behind the Commanders.
Sure, it means nothing right now, but it's another sign that the Commanders will have much to prove in 2025 to see if they remain a playoff team.
