Defensive Coordinator / Staff search begins

Morris worked with some pretty talented players in LA with McVay on that side of the ball, including HOFer Aaron Donald and Jalen Ramsey in his prime.

What you have to look at in coaches is what has the guy done with what he was given to work with.

No doubt the #1 defense has a competent coordinator, but it also has some top shelf talent that leads to results on the field.

Would that coordinator be able to raise the level of play of a team with some lesser lights?

That's where we are here. The cupboard is not exactly stocked.

well put; putting stuff here so I can get notification

I mean, a guy isn’t gonna schedule DC interviews while he’s in the middle of trying to convince teams he still has HC prestige. We’re not out of danger yet, not by a long shot.
Yea but I feel like we should have someone or at least someone in mind by then. He's got 3 hc interviews. That has to take some time.

Edit update: I didn't realize that the Rooney rule has expanded so much. Yea, it's going to be a long process

The new DC won't need to be concerned with Lattimore
Commanders CB Marshon Lattimore “was taken into custody for carrying concealed weapons” and “later released pending further investigation.”
Lattimore was taken into custody by Lakewood Police, located just outside of Cleveland, Ohio. More details on the issue have not yet been shared. Lattimore has one year remaining on his contract with the Commanders, though the team can save all $18.5 million that he is scheduled to make in 2026 by releasing him this offseason

There was no way the 30 year old Lattimore was coming back in 2026 in any event.

He was no asset on defense, he had slowed down and couldn't stay healthy and was clearly past his prime.

When rookie Trey Amos is on the field and the opposition is targeting Lattimore on the other side you know something stinks in the state of Denmark.

skinsinparadise The Daily Double would be Ulbrich as DC and McDaniel as OC. We are bringing in Dallas TE coach for an OC interview but I have to think DQ is waiting to see if McDaniels either has interest here or will be possibly hired as a HC somewhere else. Hearing Cleveland is interested in McDaniel. Graham was an decent name but Ulbrich would be a better hire.

Cleveland is a death sentence. No way in hell i would take that interview. Bad to worse IMO

You don’t think McDaniel would be pumped to have Sanders and Watson as his QBs? 🤪

McDaniel, I think will be #1 on his/our list for OC but if you are offered a HC position it changes things. This has to play out.

In my career, I've taken a secondary position with a better company than taken a more senior position with a worse company

Just me. The "team" is critical for me

I get you but that's you. Mike is gonna do what is best for him and his family/career as we know. I hope he comes here. Believe me. :)

Don't want Gus Bradley! Maybe Schwartzs or Cory Undlin from the Texans.

i'm watching the college football playoff and i like the DC for the Hurricanes! his blitz packages are impressive!

So, if Jeff Ulbrich is off limits at this time, who becomes the next best candidate to fill the DC? Schwartz? Graham? Someone else. Ulbrich would have been a good hire.

I'm on board with Graham so far--I'm finding him really interesting
