Cooley on offense at Falcons

Talks play calls, coaching.

Get's into Kirk some good some bad, says why. He and Garcon need to get better feel for each other and 'make it right'. Changed how he played with the game on the line, deep ball 'shots'. Gruden protecting Kirk from mistakes talked about (didn't mention covering his ass tho ;))

Crowder 'best WR on the field'

Boone was right about Grant being 'shaky'

Moses one of the best RTs pass-pro now, guards are doing well, bonehead holding call on Trent

Steiger had rough game

Run game not just O line, TE troubles, WR blocking, backside blocking

He agrees on getting one RB most snaps, rhythm and not knowing when going in is a PITA

RBs, Thompson stood out improving, Alf and Jones meh.

Slip-pick-six discussed

Bunch more at the link

If you choose to listen watch your volume, Czabe gets a little loud.

Steiger had rough game

Explains alot. Wish we had a young guy that could play that spot while Steiger gets right.

Well, we have Blutarsky ...

Samurai Center!

Cooley on defense at Falcons
No joy with Murphy tough day, Smith might be better option but still needs to work on technique, Kerrigan did his thing.
Impressed with corners, Line not so much except Hatcher not too bad
Safeties... meh
Likes Keyshoen.. he's a football player.
Worst game by Keenan to date
Perry still lost out there, Will Compton not as athletic but better football sense.
Potroast needs get it going
Paea looked decent, might need to get him in there more often
Baker decent but not great, penetrates behind the play... looks good but RB is already gone.
Generally couldn't get off of blocks, played away from Kerrigan knowing edge was available on the other side.
Didn't think they were prepared for the speed of the Falcons, OS Zone killed them, expects opponents to go to it until they stop it.
Reads looked to be off all around, didn't get a good look in practice.

Czabe is a little calmer in this one volume wise.

Cooley Offense Tampa
High praise for Jones' blitz pickups on last drive
Last drive, Tampa Two or blitzing/man, no prevent
Almost pick was too hard for defender.
Liking Carrier's blocking.
Reed's best game blocking, puts him at top ten all receivers.
Over all run game, blocking good enough, indecision by RB's
Long is playing better than Lauvao, LeRib not too bad.

Lot's more for those who missed it.

Even got pictures to go with this stuff :)

I love how these guys use illustrations these days so you can see exactly what they're talking about.

I wouldn't be surprised if he gets a coaching job in the future. Thanks for posting it.

Yeah, the new insider Hoffman seems to have his 'stuff' together.
He and Cooley are going to be doing these breakdowns with illustrations from here on out.
Think it's great too, nice to actually see what they're talking about, hard to argue with pictures most times.

Cooley on defense Tampa

Not sure there is a need to listen to this one but here 'tis anyway for some bye week fodder.

His primary take, defense dropped off at Jets, kinda continued through first 3 or so series against Tampa and picked it up some thereafter.
Keenan affected by injury (heel), Swaggy continues to impress, Smith still a 'rookie', Bash 'average' compared to Jets game.
As the game went on, some guys playing poorly began to pick it up. Back end problems still there.

(sigh)

"there were a lot of short passes"

"when a play goes off schedule you have to look for something to go available. he is great on checkdowns but he needs to look more"

I cant listen to the whole thing at work...but that wasn't as painful as usual. maybe it has to do with the win.

Some of his thoughts:

Watched offensive film. Skins left so many yds on the field. Execution mistakes looked like week one traing camp errors. Not on play calling.

The Wide receivers played better. Garcon put his foot in the ground, ran sharp routes and ran correct depth on routes. He's a solid B.

Jackson's speed & burst are back. He didn't get vertical fast enough. On each of his screen opps. he left yds on field. Grade, B.

Spencer Long was bull rushed 1 on 1 all game long, poor technique, responsible for a sack fumble. Didn't double team well. Grade, D.

Derek Carrier had four mistakes in the first three run plays. This is the third of those plays, in which he makes two physical errors. Grade, D.

Leribeus was C-. He didn't work well with guards double teaming in the run game. Snapped the ball too early & resulted in sack fumble.

Scherff, C. Although Luke Kuechly is hard to block.

Moses, C. Only one sack was on him.

Trent, A. Locked down on Jared Allen all day.

Jordan Reed, C. Bad ball security.

Cousins, B-.

Matt Jones, D.

How is Matt.Jones not an F?

yes, Jared Allen is 156 and Trent drew an easy duty.

Cooley is right about LeRibeus and Long.

Both are just 'the next guy up' due to injury not realistic long-term replacements.

3 plus years and counting on Josh.

He just isn't an NFL caliber lineman.

Keeping LeRibeus in the roster and having no capable backup at center was a major miscalculation.

He needs to be cut and we need to address Center (and maybe Guard) in the draft.

I'm hoping that Moses/Scheriff are just young and will eventually dominate the R side of the line

Don't we have the guy from the Saints now backing him up at center? DeLaPuente, I think?

Yes - but obviously you can't just bring in someone off the street and plug him in at that position. We should have had a better plan beyond Josh LeRibeus. That guy is not a starter and never will be.
