My list of players I will be glad to see out of here in 2014:

1. Fred Davis (big mouth in terms of what he is going to do, ends up doing little)
2. Josh Morgan (contract and Shanahan promised a playmaker, Morgan is no more than a possession receiver)
3. Brandon Meriweather (too much drama for a fading player whose best years were 2009 and 2010 in NE)
4. Josh LeRibeus (#3 pick has been unable to get on the field for two years with this line? Enough said)
5. Aldrick Robinson (does not exhibit the kind of hands that will allow him to become a staple of an offense)
6. Josh Wilson (he can tackle, but he doesn't seem able to cover any longer. Seems now to have safety speed)
7. Chris Chester (interior OL has been exposed at the LOS over the past 2 years. Chester is now 31)
8. Jarvis Jenkins (second rounder has faded after early promise. after suspension is now behind Chris Baker)
9. Kory Lichtensteiger (I don't think you can play OG today in the NFL at 284 on a consistent basis)
10. EJ Biggers (he has good size and decent speed but he simply can't cover anybody)

I like your list other than Lichtinsteimle and I could handle Meriweather back as well.

Want a restraining order put on Polumbus as soon as the game is over. Dude is this decades Taylor Jacobs.

Umm...you do not have Tyler Polumbus on that list as Win mentioned. That is the first player who needs to simply be cut...period!

With our Safety position in such turmoil, Meriweather should be kept on for another year. He definitely made the defense better down the stretch. We at least need to see how Thomas recovers from injury or if he's another Baccari Rambo.

Totally unrelated to the thread perhaps but follow the article link to a pretty encompassing take on Shanny's tenure.

Pretty much covers most gripes I've read around here since the season shit-canned.

Mike Shanahan hasn?t solved Washington Redskins? problems during uneven tenure - The Washington Post
Haha, this was Shanahan all along and everybody was calling for Hasletts head that day I remember that shit when i was in the bar and everybody going WTF??? That was on my birthday and that play totally ruined it. Thx again Shanahan.

"One of Shanahan’s first calls came in September 2011, during a game at Dallas. With the Cowboys on their own 30 with 2 minutes 20 seconds to play, Shanahan called an all-out blitz — “Cover-0,” as it is known — and it backfired, resulting in Dallas quarterback Tony Romo finding wide receiver Dez Bryant for a 30-yard gain. Dallas eventually kicked a field goal for an 18-16 victory, and Haslett was left to shoulder the blame."

Meriweather is scum

I'd love Litchensteiger back though.

Shanny meddling in all aspects of coaching doesn't surprise me much, the reaction by his staff does, which is poor management.

The article also pretty much condemns the GM/HC as one guy scenario with an owner like ours.

Way too much political crap when the GM, despite misgivings, tries to appease the owner then Coach has to turn around and ready the owner's 'prize' for football.

There will always be the marketing aspect with this owner, the 'Redskins hype machine' rolls-on no matter what, the media drives it, Snyder fuels it and the team gets taken for the ride.

What we need is a Redskins football machine, the team drives it, Snyder fuels it and the media takes the ride.

We barely throw at Robinson. He's one of the players who would most benefit from O Line improvements as we don't give our QBs enough time for plays to develop. Robinson is a downfield guy, and a young one. I don't disagree about the hands, but he's not without some skills and I don't think we've seen his best yet. I'd hold onto him.

I don't really want to see anyone gone, exactly, so much as I'd like to see certain positions upgraded. Some of those players would be fine backups and I dont see the need to kick them out just for spite. Escpecially younger players who might still develop on the cheap.

Of course the Post is going to praise candor when it makes the Skins look bad. I think Cooley is walking a fine line, but I don't disagree with him.

What? cooley is anything but ultra negative, this article is just cherry picking quotes from him.

he grades out every player of every week based SOLELY on that week.

he's been grading out the o line positively almost all year, for example. now they want to say he wants lichtensteiger gone? give me a break...

taking one week's quotes and stretching them over a season is dumb. it means the guy writing this story doesn't actually listen to cooley's show.

cooley's show is very informative and i think he's awesome to listen to. it'll be interesting to see how much insight he can provide with a new coaching staff.

he doesn't strike me as bitter at all. definitely nothing like lavar.

This is the worst special teams ever in Washington.

The point differential is the worst since the 1950s.

3 wins ties the worst record here since the merger in 1970.

Not a lot of positives out there from a team perspective.

Morris and Garçon have nice stats but losing teams often have one or two quality performers.

It's the other 43 players that need attention.

This is definitely the post cherry picking quotes to make it sound like all he does is bash the team. His criticisms are usually very fair. I've never heard him call out someone who didn't deserve it. Plus, as you stated he looks at the performance of that specific game. Sometimes, his positive marks for people can often seem too positive. I don't agree with everything Cooley says, but he's far from overly negative like others are. I like listening to the insight he provides as he gives a look into how things work. I especially like the way he puts Czabe in his place, since Czabe knows nothing about football.

5. Aldrick Robinson (does not exhibit the kind of hands that will allow him to become a staple of an offense)
Who says he has to be a "staple of an offense" to remain on the team ?
This is another case of thinking in "extremes".
He aint a #1, but he doesn't deserve to be kicked to the curb so soon, either.
There's anywhere from 5 to 7 spots on the roster at that position. It's not like it's the QB position, where there's only 2 or 3 spots.
Who says he cannot even be one of the lower spots on that totem pole - at least for now, until he possibly develops ?
He obviously has not made a case for being a top receiver, but he certainly has not a case for being the goat or whipping boy, or being knocked off even the 7th spot, that everyone makes him out to be.
I don't get the hate for this guy. He's done a LOT more than many of our guys. He's done more for this team, than so many other receivers who were given a much longer leash than people are giving him.
It's not like this team is going to be packed with 53 Pro Bowlers next year, with no room for a guy who hasn't reached his potential.

Further proves my point.
So, on a team with so much "suck" on it, Robinson deserves some slack.

Can you tell I'm a Robinson fan ?

Robinson dropped two more balls today on third and fourth down.

He's unreliable and IMO won 't be back under a new staff as they will see what I do.

If Robinson could have leveraged his speed as a kick or punt returner he might have continued to earn a spot but was terrible when Shanahan put him back there on returns.
