Adam Peters has been busy since he was hired by the Washington Commanders. In his first season, he brought in defensive help, and drafted Jayden Daniels. In his second season, he hasn't slowed down, adding veteran help on both sides of the ball. One of the biggest moves he made this offseason, though, was trading with the Houston Texans for offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil.

Tunsil's trade was named one of the top 10 moves of the offseason by Bleacher Report, who ranked their top 10 moves by the impact it would have on the 2025 season.

The offensive line was a major issue for the Houston Texans last season. While the unit certainly needed fixing, trading away your best lineman wasn't exactly the way most folks thought they'd address it. The return for the star left tackle was substantial, but C.J. Stroud was sacked 52 times in 2024, and according to Pro Football Focus, Tunsil only accounted for two of those. He was hardly the problem, and if this revamped line struggles -- particularly whoever takes over at blindside tackle -- it could have major ramifications for Stroud taking another step forward in Year 3 and the Texans' overall success.

Conversely, this was a major get for the Washington Commanders, who are coming off an appearance in the NFC Championship Game. They struck gold with Jayden Daniels and have now given their rising second-year quarterback a bona fide left tackle to protect him, which should only help his development. A team that was in the NFL's final four a season ago got notably better at one of the most important positions in the sport.

This was a huge "get" for the Commanders. As elusive as Jayden Daniels is, he was still sacked 47 times in 2025. Most of those sacks are attributed to Brandon Coleman, who will now switch back to his natural guard position with the addition of Tunsil.

Bolstering the Commanders' offensive line was one of Adam Peters' biggest goals this offseason. Aside from bringing in Tunsil, he also drafted Josh Conerly, Jr., and guard Sam Cosmi is set to return from injury at some point this season.

Washington's offense was incredibly dangerous in Daniels' rookie campaign, and with an upgraded offensive line, we may see an even better performance in 2025. Bringing in Tunsil is a big part of that.
