Commanders Owner Turning Heads After Major Jayden Daniels Purchase originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
Jayden Daniels' rookie season with the Washington Commanders was one of the most memorable in the modern history of the NFL. Daniels spirited a run from the basement of the league to a remarkable playoff run that ended in the NFC Championship Game.
The unquestioned 2024 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year promises quite the future not only for himself but for the Commanders franchise at large. Last year's achievement of reaching the conference championship marked something Washington had not done in decades.
So it's no surprise that prices on Daniels' rookie season memorabilia are soaring through the roof. Specifically in the trading card enterprise, fans got a glimpse into that value over the weekend.
Commanders owner Josh Harris spent a fortune on a Daniels trading card at Fanatics Fest on Saturday. Harris purchased the Jayden Daniels Panini Prizm Black Finite one-of-one card for $500,000.
Rothcards, the former owner of the item, made the lucrative deal with the Commanders owner on Trade Night at the convention. Harris not only opened up the checkbook on this major purchase, but also sent them home with a signed Daniels jersey.
The card, originally discovered by Joey Carrion of WeTheHobby in Rochester, N.Y., was sold by Dr. Ojash Raval to the group at Rothcards for a price of $200,000, according to The Athletic.
While Harris certainly enjoys having this card in his possession, the greater benefit remains having the actual quarterback under center for his team. The Commanders have pursued an aggressive offseason to build around Daniels, hoping to capitalize on these first few years of his career.
Daniels and the Commanders will report to training camp in just under a month on July 18.
