Washington Commanders receiver Terry McLaurin is currently going through the ugly, business side of football as he seeks a new contract this offseason.
A constant for Washington over the years, Terry is entering the final year of his deal, and based on the numbers he's put up, a sizeable extension is likely coming his way.
Yet, so far, the Commanders don't seem to be too keen on parting ways with a significant salary for their best offensive weapon, which to us seems odd, given the "all-in" nature of the offseason.
A key part of the deal is clearly money, but where should the price point start? Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer spoke on it in a chat with 106.7 The Fan, and it won't be anything less than $30 million APY.
"I don't think it's in a great place right now," Breer said on 106.7 The Fan. "If you're Terry McLaurin, you look at it and you're saying don't even come to me with anything that doesn't start with as three per year. I think it's fair for him to ask for something in that range just based on where the market has gone. I think they will eventually get something done."

Is $30 million APY fair? That would put Terry on the same contract as Tyreek Hill.
Some might balk at that, but given how the salary cap is growing, that will be the market price for a receiver of Terry's stature.
As Breer stated, the Commanders and McLaurin will likely get something done; it is just a matter of when and at what price.
But make no mistake about it, Washington shouldn't be expecting to pay anything less than $30 million APY for their star receiver.
