Commanders 'Pumped' As Terry McLaurin Ends Holdout With Shocking Move originally appeared on Athlon Sports.

Did the Washington Commanders just call Terry McLaurin's bluff? Did 'Scary Terry' just fold?

In a Sunday shocker, the All-Pro wide receiver for Washington, who was a no-show during the arrival portion of training camp, just showed up... despite his self-described "frustration'' over a contract dispute as he awaits a new extension.

The week-long lone absence was all about a player who is their best offensive weapon in the arsenal of quarterback Jayden Daniels.

McLaurin has been clear that he wants to be paid as one of the best receivers in football... we assume that means $30 million APY.

After his career year in 2024, it's hard to argue with that stance. McLaurin caught 13 touchdown passes and helped Washington reach the NFC Championship game for the first time in three decades.

His decision to attend means moves. McLaurin has officially been taken off the did not report list and was placed on the active/PUP list as he is apparently working through an ankle issue.

"On the business side, (GM Adam Peters) and the guys are still working hard with Terry and his reps," coach Dan Quinn said. "While on PUP, it's just like we do with other guys -- work with the trainers to get back as soon as he can."

Quinn added that he is "pumped'' to have McLaurin present.

Does this mean a deal is close? We go back to what Peters said earlier this week.

“First, without a doubt, I think everybody in this building values Terry very much,” Peters said. “We knew that coming in and we know that even more after spending a year with him. We’ve had conversations recently and we’re looking to have more conversations and we’re going to do everything we can to get a deal done.”

Maybe having McLaurin present and accounted for helps that cause... even though he won't be practicing.

Washington needs McLaurin if they are to compete for a Super Bowl this year.

The fact that they have playing hardball with the veteran is perplexing to many... especially to him. This decision could in theory get the ball rolling toward changing all of that and putting Washington back on the Super Bowl path it believes it can be on.
