Cant sleep.

I have tried to stay grounded, I have reminded myself that the defence still sucks its just better than it was, that the Oline has played better but is still physically overmatched most of the time, that Rg3 is a rookie, that morris is a rookie, that we dont have much depth at Receiver. We shouldnt be as good as we are.

I keep flashing back to all the times this team has set me up and then let me down, all the times I thought we were on the cusp and then failed. but i cant help but feel like tomorrow is ours for the taking.

this is a different team, I have decided tonite that even if we lose, I will be ok with it because our upside is visible, that we have shown what I asked for, tangible differences and obvious improvement. I CANT EXPLAIN THIS TO ANYONE WHO ISNT A SKINS FAN, HOW IMPORTANT THIS SEASON HAS BEEN TO US.

Thats why im staying home tomorrow to watch the game, see you nerds in the chat tomorrow, im looking forward to watching this game with you my friends, the same guys and gals who have suffered through all the garbage with me, who commiserated when we sucked, who made the same stupid bets as I have (and who make the same dumb "we are definately gonna win" predictions every year) Mikesr lol im looking at you, I am gonna enjoy every minute of tomorrows game even if im grouching but especially if im laughing.

now im gonna go stay busy and try sleep.

It's snowing here. Should be ending soon. Yeah, I can't sleep either. Just doing some more packing and keeping busy. Just under thirteen hours to go.

I feel pretty much the same in terms of how I will view the success of the season win or lose today. So freaking proud of this team and its really the first season I have been ablr to say that in so very long.

But.....


I also have a very high desire to see Seagull Blue feathers drifting all over the field and pile of chewed on seagull wings at mid field at the end of this game. All in the spirit of shutting the previously verbal diarrhea spewing pieholes of seahaggia.

so there is that.

Same here. Maybe its because we're playing with house money. I dont know. That might change as we get closer to kickoff, though.

Yup, today is a Ben Kenobi moment. You can see the Redskins calmly approaching this game and stating.

"You can't win, Darth. If you strike me down I will become more powerful than you can ever imagine."

Meanwhile, Emperor Mara is quaking having visions of the 'skins blowing up the Cowboys' Death Star (isn't that what they call their stadium) before coming after him!

I guess that begs the question... is Mara Snyder's father?... Nah, too far.

HAHA....well done burg! I also like Henry's analogy about playing with house money. I'm sure it will change in a few hours but I'm pretty calm as well. There are no great expectations because Seattle is favored so the "experts" will either drone on as usual or they'll be talking about the shocking upset. I'd prefer the latter because I like our chances in the Georgia Dome and I see the winner of this game playing in the NFC Championship Game. What an exciting prospect!
 
Headed to FedEx Field now. Have a great time in chat guys! I will miss you all. For those of you headed to the game, HTTR!! Get as loud as you can! I hope Danny boy has them pump crowd noise through the speakers like they do in Seattle!
 
I'm relaxed as well. It felt like there was much more at stake for the division game. Probably given it coming down to a last game against Dallas. I felt like there was much more to prove. A statement to be made. I guess in the end we made a huge statement that we are back for a long time to come. Winning a playoff game won't really affect that. I'd like to go all homeriffic and proclaim a run to the SB, but that is so far beyond believable to me I must can't do it. So "house money" for me is having the opportunity to watch my favorite team play one more game. A chance to revel in renewed pride. To enjoy the beginning of a new era where I don't have to be ashamed to don Redskins garb in public. :)

I want to take a nap in the worst way, but that is not happening. I'd miss the game if I went to sleep.

After last weeks game, my wife commented she's never seen me so calm during any Skins game in the 26 years we've been together.

I'm as happy as a puppy with two peckers, but just very relaxed. I guess watching the team find ways to win as good teams do, and seeing our depth actually play at a high level has me amazingly at ease.
 
When I eat a piece of delicious cake, I usually start away from the (hopefully) cream cheese icing and eat the cake toward the icing. This season, especially the last half, has been a delicious cake-like I haven't tasted in years.

Today is the icing.

And the best part is that no matter how much icing is there-this is just the first piece of the cake. :)
