Just before the season started, BBQ made predictions for all sixteen games. The actual results (in red) are compared to the original prognostications.

September 9 – Redskins at Saints
Facing Drew Brees in his house is never easy, but the Redskins have had some degrees of success in the Bayou.
Saints 38 Redskins 27.
What went down: Robert Griffin, III had a spectacular debut and outdueled Drew Brees. Redskins 40 Saints 32.
BBQ Record: 0-1.

September 16 – Redskins at Rams
The two teams with the blockbuster trade that brought Robert Griffin, III to the Redskins will face off. The Redskins secure their first win of the season.
Redskins 31 Rams 10.
What went down: The Redskins failed to gain some early season momentum and lost. Rams 31 Redskins 28.
BBQ Record: 0-2.

September 23 – Bengals at Redskins
The first home game of the season is a memorable one for the team as they get RG3’s first win at FedEx.
Redskins 23 Bengals 17.
What went down: The Redskins continued their futility at home with a loss to the Bengals. Bengals 38 Redskins 31.
BBQ Record: 0-3.

September 30 – Redskins at Buccaneers
The Redskins face a determined, but young Bucs team and pull away in the second half.
Redskins 33 Buccaneers 20.
What went down: In a see-saw affair, Billy Cundiff kicks the game winner – barely. Redskins 24 Buccaneers 22.
BBQ Record: 1-3.

October 7 – Falcons at Redskins
A spirited effort by both teams is decided by a late field goal and the Redskins absorb their first home loss of the season.
Falcons 24 Redskins 21.
What went down: The Redskins face a tough defense and Griffin leaves the game with a concussion. Falcons 24 Redskins 17.
BBQ Record: 2-3.

October 14 – Vikings at Redskins
The visitors from the North make a pilgrimage to FedEx and lose a shootout to the home team.
Redskins 31 Vikings 28.
What went down: It was definitely a shootout and the difference is a 76 yard TD run by Griffin. Redskins 38 Vikings 26.
BBQ Record: 3-3.

October 21 – Redskins at Giants
Payback can be fun if you are on the winning team. That will not be the case in North Jersey as the Redskins lose a tough one to Giants.
Giants 22 Redskins 20.
What went down: The Redskins did indeed lose a tough one on a last minute prayer by Eli Manning. Giants 27 Redskins 23.
BBQ Record: 4-3.

October 28 – Redskins at Steelers
RG3 learns that some teams are very tough on defense and that a losing streak can happen in the NFL.
Steelers 28 Redskins 17.
What went down: It was a rough outing to be sure. Steelers 27 Redskins 12.
BBQ Record: 5-3.

November 4 – Panthers at Redskins
This will be billed as a matchup of young QBs who will be superstars in this sport for years to come. Round one will go to the soph.
Panthers 37 Redskins 34.
What went down: The team continued to struggle and the bye had thankfully come to a weary team. Panthers 21 Redskins 13.
BBQ Record: 6-3.

November 11 – Bye
The Redskins have a record of 4-5 at the break. The team has definitely improved over the previous season and the framework for a successful future is being established.
What went down: The Redskins limped to the bye with a 3-6 record and Coach Mike Shanahan decided to start a process of evaluating players. Were the coaches looking ahead to 2013 a bit early?

November 18 – Eagles at Redskins
The Redskins come well rested to FedEx and pull off an upset of the playoff bound Eagles.
Redskins 26 Eagles 21.
What went down: Two struggling teams meet and one comes out looking a little better with a rout. Redskins 31 Eagles 6.
BBQ Record: 7-3.

November 22 – Redskins at Cowboys
A Thanksgiving feast is always tasty when football is on the tube. However, the feast will not be as enjoyable for the Redskins.
Cowboys 20 Redskins 19.
What went down: The Redskins re-enter the playoff debate with a masterful offensive display. Redskins 38 Cowboys 31.
BBQ Record: 7-4.

December 3 – Giants at Redskins
The Redskins finally get revenge for the Mara-led cap penalty craziness. A second half surge proves to be the difference.
Redskins 34 Giants 21.
What went down: In a classic NFC East battle, the Giants and Redskins trade the lead and the game is decided with some outstanding yards gained by Alfred Morris. Redskins 17 Giants 16.
BBQ Record: 8-4.

December 9 – Ravens at Redskins
The I-95 battle proves to be a tough experience for the Redskins as they face a team that is poised to make a run at the Super Bowl.
Ravens 17 Redskins 15.
What went down: The Redskins continued their offensive mastery and solidified their standing as a potential playoff team – something that was not seen as being realistic a few weeks earlier. Redskins 31 Ravens 28.
BBQ Record: 8-5.

December 16 – Redskins at Browns
The Redskins find that the trip to cold and snowy Cleveland is to their liking as RG3 provides a hot-handed spark.
Redskins 45 Browns 10.
What went down: After suffering a knee injury in the previous game, Robert Griffin was forced to the sideline. Kirk Cousins played inspired football as the team cruised to an easy win. Redskins 38 Browns 21.
BBQ Record: 9-5.

December 23 – Redskins at Eagles
The Eagles are making a final push toward the playoffs and a determined effort sinks the Redskins at the Linc.
Eagles 22 Redskins 17.
What went down: The Redskins survive a squeaker against the lowly Eagles, but take over sole possession of first place in the NFC East. Redskins 27 Eagles 20.
BBQ Record: 9-6.

December 30 – Cowboys at Redskins
The Cowboys look to extend their winning streak over the Redskins as they try to lock up a wild card spot in the playoffs. The Redskins lose on a late field goal.
Cowboys 23 Redskins 21.
What went down: The battle for the NFC Crown would be decided in primetime. This was the night that Alfred Morris ran into Redskins folklore. Redskins 28 Cowboys 18.
Washington Redskins – 2012 NFC East Champions.
BBQ Record: 9-7.

A mediocre record for BBQ, but BBQ is more than happy with the NFCE crown. See you again next week.

Hail To The Redskins!
