Anne, you continue to raise the bar with your blognostications. Great write up as usual. I have watched a few of their games this year and it boggles my mind how they could be ranked so high on defense. They are aging and seem to have lost a step. Unfortunately, they have become a pass happy offense, or at least it appears as though...they have some very good wideouts with tremendous speed.

Ultimately if Pittsburgh tries to run against us, we will have a good chance to take this game. If they pass 40 times, they win. That's what I didn't understand from Coughlin and the Giants' offense, they tried to run against us when they should have passed. I don't think Haley makes that mistake and the Steelers could pull away with this one.

Thanks for the write-up Anne.

Great job Anne! Sadly, I have to agree with your assessment. It will take a bit of luck to win this game, not offensively but defensively. Last week I was hoping for a head-scratching turnover from Eli. We did get that but also got some head-scratching turnovers of our own, not to mention a head-scratcher on Defense at the end.

This week, we'll need to win the turnover battle in a big way (meaning ZERO for us) in order to win IN Pittsburgh. It's very possible, and RG3 will keep us close, but ultimately I think our D fails us once again when it matters.

Great job Anne. Especially love the "Cry me a river, Steeler fans" ditty.

But this is the perfect, "Boy, the defense pulled that one out of their ass" type game.

Robert will be, Robert.
Alfred will be, Alfred.
Kai, well, Kai will continue to be Supernatural.
And Cooley, will be back!

The surprise will be, the secondary. That's right boys and girls. The secondary will seal the deal in this unexpected win.

4-4 will feel like a brand new day.

Nice work, Anne! Thank you!

All I will add is this...

If we get beat by a team wearing that disastrously hideous abomination of a uniform, it may be my last day showing my face in public.

Oh, and my area (nearly equidistant from DC and Pittsburgh) is "Stiller" country these days; much as I hate to admit it. I look forward to NOT having to hear crap from the Steelers fans Monday morning!

Nice write up Anne. I admit disappointment that you didn't work in a reference to Belicheat sucking, but aside from that :), I think your analysis is spot on. I think we will win, but a loss wouldn't shock.

Either way it is especially refreshing to know that Griffin will keep us in it all the way!

I agree, El. I too was surprised to see their defense ranked so high. They just seem to be one of those teams that, no matter how inconsistently they play, they manage to pull out a win. The Steelers are like that, the Patriots are too; they have the Midas touch. We seem to be more like a cooler at a casino, only instead of cooling others we cool ourselves.

The surprise will be, the secondary. That's right boys and girls. The secondary will seal the deal in this unexpected win.
I love your optimism. You were right about "Cobra" Kai so hopefully you're right about this too.

Excellent read Anne, you put it all quite succinctly. I however disagree with the final score, I see this turning into a grind it out type game even with our secondary being only capable of playing Division II college ball at this point. The Steelers defense has lost a step (I've got one of the biggest Steeler homers in my office and he is scared of our run game mightily), if we can exploit the edges with any consistency we'll be in a good position to win.

Skins 27 - Steelers 23 - Yeah its not really a grind it out score but the game will feel that way......Or I'm totally wrong, luckily I don't claim to be Nostradamus

Another great write-up Anne. You are really quite good at these things. :)

Ax, may it be so...

Hard to argue with you Anne.

Though I think Pittsburgh is also getting older -- Ben has taken a lot of hits in recent years and doesn't have the same mobility that he once did.

I know we don't have the pass rush as a consequence of the series of injuries, but if for whatever reason we're able to get after Ben, we could finally reduce the burden on our defense.

I don't think that the secondary will be difference as they are just -- let's be honest here -- not good.

However, if we're able to keep the Steelers to 250 or fewer yards of pass offense -- which, mind you, could be accomplished by 8 or 9 minute drives with lots of short-ish runs and/or average-to-good defense from the front seven and/or the secondary -- we win this game.

If you can't beat them on the defensive side of the ball, perhaps we can keep their offense off the field.

Ok Anne, I was thinking that you would break with tradition and pick us as the winner for once! :nono: :cuss: :D

I really think the Redskins take this game. I'm hoping you're wrong and I know you feel the same way. :)

I'm hoping she's wrong as well but there has just been a little to much SSDD this season for me to actually pick us to win. Besides, every time I pick us to win we lose. Wouldn't want to go against the grain. :dunce2:
