You likely have noticed we have a new logo.

Although the Redskins have always been gracious about folks using parts or all of their logo on fan websites (believe it or not), the NFL itself pays attention to such things and is cracking down (so we're told) on websites selling anything logo-ed that contains even minor elements of exist team logos.

Although we've always made a conscious effort to stay away from bold use of Redskins logos and icons with some minor exceptions, our original logo did have some tweaked redskins elements.

We decided awhile back that we might as well abandon that practice, and put that issue behind us for good by developing our own unique logo. As hard as it may be to believe, it's taken us months and months to design our final logo. We loved our original logo. But it was time to make the change. We have gone through 100 iterations of it before settling on our final logo. We decided simple, clean, and sharp was the way to go. And we're going to have some fun with some versions of it down the road. Now that our new logo is finalized, we will be re-opening our BGO Store in the near future. Those of you that were prize-winners in our NFL Pickem contest will soon be able to select your prizes.

We hope you like the new look

It looks great.

Would like to have a cap and shirt with the old logo though (gonna be a collector's item) - and new ones too (look forward to the new store).

Dude.

Don't think we didn't look hard at this

Very sharp, and very classy. I figured NFL licensing was the reason for the switch. It kind of sucks that they're that strict, when the Redskins are seemingly so gracious; but I guess it is what it is.

On the other hand, having a site that is so unique, and that has a "feel" all its own, might as well have a logo all our own too. As with everything else you guys seem to do, I think it's great.

Boone - the one in your post is a lot cleaner than the one actually on the page, which appears pixelated. I think you may have the wrong image up there?

EDIT: Maybe its just my resolution settings, the menus at the top appear pixelated also.

Also, is it just me, or does the new logo appear somewhat Grateful Dead inspired?

They are identical for me Lanky. May be related to your screen resolution settings - I don't know. Shoot Neophyte a pm with your browser name, resolution settings, screen capture, anything else you think might be relevant and we'll take a look at it. Maybe he can figure out why your banner image isn't as crisp.

We use a flash banner. We've learned (often painfully) that manipulating that thing is fairly complicated.

Nope Lanky. They are the same. I can guarantee it.

Looks nice. Its a shame the NFL and teams can't see the benefit in fan sites using part of their logo. I can see the NFL not wanting the shield to be used, but team logos is part of fan attachment. Severely limiting use of logos will only hurt growing the product.

I know how companies are about using their logos. Most of time parent companies will tell you how and how you can't use the logo. They don't say no, but give direction so to develop the brand.

Here is a screen cap of what I'm seeing (for some reason its not showing up as different resolutions on the screen cap - maybe because it was shrunk):

Tough to see any big difference there Lanky - although obviously if you say you're seeing it, you're seeing it. Like I said, have to think it's what you've got your screen resolution set at - I can't think of what might otherwise be the issue??

Wait till you see our new 'mourn' feature - you're gonna love it!

I keed. I keed. :)

Hehehe...

I really am kidding. Nice thought/gesture over there!

Yep. We should have those before long WD - thanks for asking :)

Back in the mid 70's my cronies and I had a few clubs in the DC area (yes they were discos, sorry)

Several of our logo's were influenced by Art Deco and Art Nouveau, we particularly liked the artwork of Mucha.. pretty ladies and fonts similar to your new logo.

Cool, brings back memories of crazy times.

Nice to see some of you salmon returning home to your spawning grounds :) Starting to get a little jazzed up about football's return myself :) Thanks for the kind words guys - we're glad it seems to fit. And dammit Om - I told you we needed some 70's women on that banner!
