BGO.C.D. - Merthiolate

Right there with ya, pal.

I was there with you last night via text, but there was no way I was gonna blow on anything.

Onwards and upwards, I guess....

I really don't think I'll run out of reasons to blame Snyder. He's been the one constant during this epic slide. He makes the decisions...and, he's made awful decisions time and time again.
Weak Sauce

We need mercurochrome Boone. That stuff didn't burn, just gave you a burgundy stain on your skin.

Whoa the irony...lol

Beautiful write-up, Boone.

I admire your passion, commitment, and willingness to pen this after such a mind-numbing night. It paints the perfect picture of what it's like to be in our position at this point.

The one thing this franchise has going for it is the passion among the fan base. Ironically, our passion hurts us in many regards too. Is there really much pressure on the owner for this team to do well right now? I'm not trying to spark a debate, but it's something I've personally been running through my own head today, trying to come to grips with this all.

Merthiolate......Dam you Boone, I have a bottle that's like 40 years old, and it hasn't lost it's zip. And yes my tired ol hands are stained orange often, but they do heal eventually, as will our team.

Great read.

Even the little glass dauber they used to apply the stuff with looked evil! Funny how some memories never fade...

My sister Anne just posted this on Facebook. She moved into my Dad's house after he passed away last year. She found this in the medicine cabinet. And I guarantee you, that bottle was purchased pre-1970 from the Giant food store in Springfield Virginia.

Wow.

There is no comparison BB - seriously. Merthiolate was like sticking your hand over a lit candle. I'm not joking.

Damn, Boone. That's the same bottle I remember from my youth!

Remember putting that on a cut on a hand or finger and immediately shaking your hand or getting on your bike to get some wind on that sucker.

Flashback Friday indeed!

I was just going to go take a pic of my bottle. I still cringe every time I get it out.

I'm outta gas on this team.

Too many passes being cut for Gruden - he kept Hazlett when everyone else on the Redskin planet knew this was not the path to walk.

We can't seem to draft the right talent in sufficient numbers. the same problems persist year after year. sorry...yea...yea...I know...it's early.....but Trent Murphy hasn't done ***t. that was a wing it pick. so..like a lot of other picks/signings...we end up with a decent player who can make good plays occasionally...but...once again....not a consistent difference maker.

waste. waste. waste. that is what Redskins stands for.

You totally missed just about every point I tried to make in the blog entry Al. Gruden just got here. We may want to say 'we always...', 'we never...', 'We can't seem to...' 'this team will never...', but Gruden can't be made to hold all that baggage. Did you think we'd go 4-0 out the gate - and look like all is righted with this franchise's ship? That's not realistic, and it's not fair to Gruden. There is going to have to be some pain associated with getting to where we all want to be - you can't have 'rebirth' without pain. Even when Gibbs came back, there was some pain. The fact that we're all tired of pain doesn't change that. It's way too early to grade Murphy a blown pick too. If keeping Haslett was a mistake, let's see if he recognizes it and does something about it.

And no one wants to acknowledge it, but we've been absolutely decimated by injuries over the first 4 games. We've lost our starting QB and our top DB. That alone would crush most teams chances. But for us, the team is just supposed to keep right on chugging and win with all that and a brand new coach. It's not a realistic expectation.

Come on man - you were all over me for posting nihilistically last year. Walk the walk yourself :)

But Dammit, Gruden was supposed to be DIFFERENT......and RIGHT AWAY! ;)

Gruden is different and right away..... just can't figure if that's a good thing yet, fun to watch his interviews tho.

Gruden shouldn't get a pass on everything. But he should be given time. Imagine how he'd fair if he started 0-5 :) I'm quite certain we'd be trying to run him out of town.

It's hard to say with any measure of certainty exactly who kept Haslett. Dan's wallet, after paying Shanahan for free this year, and not wanting to pay Haslett for free too? Bruce? Gruden? Satan? A combination of people?
