If Robert Griffin

Very nice write up and agree 100%.

Yes I knew Griffin would not play in pre-season and put game 1 in question. But I also knew if healthy he would start game 1. Still apprehensive as its not normal or wise to play a player game one without the live reps. But that's the cards we're dealt and have to play. There is also no doubt in my mind Cousins will start some games this year. I just look at the history. Griffin is full bore at all times that won't change, two out of last four years blown knees. Coincidence? I doubt.

I like your insurance analogy. You don't want to have to file a claim, but when you need it, it pays off and supposed to put you back in the same position as before the loss. I know Cousins is a winner and we can win with him, so that mitigates to a great extent, my concern with Robert Griffin playing without scrimmaging.

I always knew those talking heads who insisted "QB controversy" were going to be proven wrong. This is such a nice problem to have

Another beautifully written piece, Boone. I enjoyed it thoroughly and it echoes my sentiment as well.

For a team that went without a QB and struggled miserably for the better part of 20 odd seasons, you certainly would think they would cherish Cousins at this point.

The reality is that nobody knows how Robert will respond to live bullets. As well, if people think that he's not going to be a target for the opposition, they are fooling themselves.

Sans Cousins, the reality is that you run the risk of potentially being back to square one, staring at Rex Grossman behind center once again, and spinning your tires (did I say that we were REALLY good at doing that for 20 odd years?) I realize that this is a worst case scenario, "world is falling" hypothetical scenario, but it certainly puts things in perspective.

For a team wanting to build on the positive momentum built a season ago, this is the last road you want to go down.

We're just starting to get out of the wilderness...let's keep it that way - I enjoy seeing light.

Thanks for the positive feedback. And yeah, I really do think Kirk is dreamy :)

My preference is to make him our Don Strock. Give him enough money to stick around and be a life long backup to Griff. Is Cousin Kirk willing to do it? Maybe, maybe not. The next head coach will be somebody's son and I hope number twelve will take that into consideration.

Great write up and I agree.

No way Cousins should be traded unless some team offers too much to turn down (I.E. 2 firsts). I was always one of the guys thinking the Skins should draft 2 or more QB's every year until we got one. Then finally Shanahan did it and we landed 2. It was funny last year when everybody was blasting the pick. Next year get that 1st + 2nd or better for Cousins but not this soon. RG3 could easily keep getting into bad situations and end up injured again and nobody wants to see Rex take over a winnable game.
