As the Redskins tip-toe towards the start of perhaps their most important season in 20 years, there’s plenty of hype to wallow in. The storyline for...

Nice write up, my friend.

It's a shame we won't likely see our starting Oline until opening day. But I have been watching the backups with great interest. As I know we all have. I think they are going to pleasantly surprise us all this season. Defenders can't just lock onto a spot, knowing Sexy will be planted there, either. If they over ran the Rex, they could still catch him from behind before he made it to the line of scrimmage. Try that crap with Robert, and they'll be sucking air.

I would be a little surprised if we don't see at least one, designed QB rush against Indy. Maybe the option. Be great to see it go for a long gain, and score. Sleepness nights for opposing DCoordinators means wet dreams for Redskins fans. I expect Robert to do some phenomenal things this year. Mixed in with every rookie brain-fart known to man. It's part of the process. I'm not too worried about Robert's feet.
So long as he stays on them. ;)

I think the WR corp will be Garçon, Hankerson, Moss, Morgan, Robinson, and Briscoe**. I think it's a done deal, barring injury.

I think, and hope, that both Sexy, and Mighty Mouse, are gone.

I know that ideally, Gano winning the job, and then consistently proving he can do it, is the best thing that can happen. But his play, to date, has me ready to throw him into a pool of frenzied, hungry sharks, just for the entertainment value.

Yes, kickers matter. Maybe Gano can too.

So, first thing that comes to mind after that game is, are we that good or are they that bad? Or both?

We are definitely the better team considering the total upheaval and how awful the Colts were last year to begin with. However, I think it shows we have some decent depth and Morris had a great against their starting D.

They are that bad. They didnt get the top pick based on Irsay's great personality.

Also preseason, even game three, is pretty worthless when determining where a team really is. Lest we forget we went 3-1 in the preseason last year ...

Not to mention, 3-1 in the first 4 regular season games, that followed that preseason !!

So what did we learn Saturday?

On the Offensive Line, we saw great improvement. Whether that was due to the level of competition this week is hard to say. Regardless, Griffin had time to make reads and the run blocking was very good. I would characterize yesterday's showing as positive growth. Time will tell whether our journeyman/patchwork O-line can consistently get the job done in 2012.

How did Griffin’s Feet look this week? Steadier, calmer, and much more under control than against the Bears. Did Griffin take off out of the pocket at times? Yep. But he did it with decisiveness and authority while taking less risks than the week before. Griffin clearly looked to pass first this week, and that will be a key to his success this year.

As for the Logjam at Wide Receiver, it's still a logjam. Moss obviously impressed yesterday, but it was Dezmon Briscoe, one of several youngsters fighting for a roster spot, who really shone against the Colts. The final WR spot determinations may go right to the wire, but I look for both Aldrick Robinson and Dezmon Briscoe to be Redskins when the dust settles, barring some unforeseen events.

We may have gotten some hints regarding the Bubble Watch yesterday. Unfortunately - in this fan's opinion - Grossman made an extended 2nd half appearance. Predictably, in a meaningless game, Rex looked like Joe Montana. For reasons I cannot fathom, I fully expect him to make the final roster. Banks too made an appearance, although one has to wonder whether the fact that the Skins gave several others an opportunity to return yesterday might be viewed as some auditioning for his replacement. One can hope that's exactly what that was about.

Finally, with nary a FG attempt to be had, the battle of the Lonesome Kickers was postponed for another day, with both Rackers and Gano perfect on 2 PATs each. My money is still on Gano. Despite the warts we've all seen, he's young and the Redskins have the memory of David Akers burned into their memory. In the absence of Rackers 'wowing', Gano will likely be back.

I only had 1 cup of coffee this morning - sheesh :)

Actually, I am all screwed up as I really have Aldrick Robinson (2nd year) and Dezmon Briscoe (pick up from Tampa Bay) in mind. Sorry about that.

I actually think Hankerson continues to hurt his own cause with drops of catchable balls. He'll obviously make the team, but at some point, he needs to start showing we didn't make a mistake taking him in the 3rd round.

Post unscrewed above - thanks for pointing that out.

I started to wonder if you were talking about Malcolm Kelly and Devin Thomas, since we drafted those 2 together as well, and STILL could be considered essentially rookies, since they have both yet to do anything since the day they were drafted :)

I don't know WHAT the hell I was talking about. Like I said....need COFFEE... :)

Banks' fate was sealed when he caught 2 of 9 passes thrown his way in the first game.

Armstrong has been MIA most of the preseason and the team has given Austin little time.

to me WR has sorted itself out already.

I don't think you will see any surprises here.
