BBC: Gunther Holtorf's 23-year, 500K mile road-trip

This is truly incredible. Gunther and his wife Christine (until she passed recently) have driven over 500,000 miles (approximately 20 times around the EARTH) in his Mercedes SUV affectionately named Otto.

His photography is stunning, and he's been to places most people will never venture. I guess he was independently wealthy, how could you do this without any type of sponsorship?
