Yes Albert is a butthead, we paid him an immense amount of money and while he did play pretty well for us in spurts, the fact is we expected more.
Here are the facts
Albert was signed as a free agent, he was offered similiar contracts by other teams, he chose the skins based on the Owner (who at the time was very involved) promiising him we would scheme around him. He was also promised he wouldnt be misused as a two gap player.
In his first season he two gapped more than he was used to but still managed to play pretty well, he was actually on the field more than any other dlineman for us. He didnt like our bland scheme and complained about two gapping.
we hired Mike Shannhan a guy famous for geting into pissing matches with dlinemen without looking at the personelle he decided he wanted to run a 3-4 and without discussing it with AH he decided that AH would make a perfect nosetackle despite the fact that AH had stated numerous times he didnt want to and wouldnt play NT. (I could go into Andre carter here but this is about AH.
AH then lost a bunch of weight but somehow kept failing cardio tests and continued to get into pissing contests with shanny, in between, he had a dominant game against the bears where he showed why we should build around him but followed it up with lackluster efforts. the defence went from decent to very very bd in one season.
I have never said he was professional or that he wasnt partly at fault obviously he was, but in my opinion, the team shoulders at least some of the blame for making promises they didnt keep and for signing the guy based on that. None of that has changed by AH being a douchebag or being bad at PR lol The Buccs (one of the teams who offered him a similair contract to ours) have now signed him.
thoughts?
