Last offseason, San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk ended his holdout after receiving a massive four-year, $120 contract extension that ties him to the team through 2028, despite many teams calling and inquiring about his availability..

However, just seven games into the 2024 season, Aiyuk suffered a torn ACL, MCL and meniscus that ended his year after just 25 receptions for 374 yards.

This offseason, San Francisco sent wide receiver Deebo Samuel to the Washington Commanders for a fifth-round pick (used on Oregon running back Jordan James), and many believed that the team was attempting to trade Aiyuk somewhere as well. While the 27-year-old former first-round pick has his new deal in hand, he took some time to share his thoughts on his situation through a written post (which is apparently possible) on his YouTube account.

"They was talking bout trading me while I was off percocets/muscle relaxers and peeing in a cup by my bed!" Aiyuk said. "Couldn’t walk for 10 weeks ain’t nobody trading for me 🤣💀"

It should come as no surprise that Aiyuk is upset about this, as he and the team just dealt with a contract dispute last year. Things aren't all fixed, no matter what general manager John Lynch said recently.

"In families, you have little spats, and then you give a big hug at the end, and you work together, and that's where we're at," Lynch said told reporters nearly two weeks ago.

If the 49ers want to realize their potential in 2025, they need Aiyuk happy and healthy in their building, so something needs to be done to rectify their issues. Either the two sides can clear the air or the team can ship him off somewhere else and make it even harder for Kyle Shanahan and company to dig themselves out of the hole that they dug last year.

No one knows what the solution will be, but Lynch and Shanahan have some work to do before the team returns for training camp next month.
