We are closing in on the 2025 NFL draft. The Washington Commanders held their local pro day on Tuesday, and on Thursday, we are officially two weeks away from the draft's first round.
Before we discuss which players attended the local pro day, let's explain the purpose of a local pro day. All 32 NFL teams can hold a local pro day. The goal of the local pro day is for the NFL teams to showcase draft-eligible players from local colleges or from the region. It's a chance for the players to impress their local team, as in most cases, the players are either potential late-round selections or candidates to sign as undrafted free agents. The local pro day can also give players valuable one-on-one time with coaches.
The most notable prospect at Washington's local pro day was Penn State safety Kevin Winston Jr. The Columbia, Md., native saw his 2024 season end after three games due to a knee injury. Winston is expected to go sometime on Day 2.
