I would like to point out that my JMU Duke Dogs beat the wimpy Tribe of William and Mary on Saturday night.

No one except my parents (W&M Grads) and my wife and me (JMU Grads) cares, I know.

In an effort for full disclosure I have four teams that I follow. They are:

Maryland- my alma mater (thank gawd for basketball)

Miami- became a fan in 1987 when I moved to the area (still not ready for primetime)

Florida State- my son is a freshman (dropping like a rock)

Florida- certified Gaytor-hater (good luck the next two weeks)

Man, my Seminoles took another tough loss! I used to get frustrated when the Florida teams would get pre-season rankings so high. Well, I reveled in it this year before the season started since it was my Noles. Boy they are proving they did not deserve the top 5 ranking they got.

At this point there is some contention on the air waves about LSU jumping over Oklahoma since many feel Missouri is better team than WVU regardless of the rankings of those 2 teams. I will say I think LSU deserves a #1 ranking at this point, but I also believe OK has proven they deserve it too. Herein lies the problem with a ranking system. Maybe the conferene re-alignments will create a better system?

LSU with their win @ WVU moved to the top of the AP Poll and into a virtual tie with Alabama for second in the Coaches Poll.

A few interesting games in the Top 25 this weekend.

#3 Alabama (-4.5) @ #12 Florida

#8 Nebraska (+10) @ #7 Wisconsin

#13 Clemson (+7) @ #11 Virginia Tech

#14 Texas A&M (-3) @ #18 Arkansas

I'm curious to see just how good/bad Florida is. They haven't really played anyone yet, but have dominated (including my Owls, sigh). Tennessee was their biggest challenge, and they won by 10 points. Alabama will be a true test to see how competitive Florida will be for the SEC crown.

The Owl's new stadium is set to open in a couple of weeks. It can be seen from I-95 behind the jet port. It looks nice at night with the lights on.

Yeah, I was considering making the trip for the stadium opener, but I probably won't go.

Well, Florida got waxed by Bama, don't think they're that good. LSU with another impressive SEC win, I'm notvsure anyone can stop them.

Florida goes into LSU next week. That shouldn't be pretty either.

Wisconsin looks as good as advertised. Va Tech needs a qb.

Rankings have been updated.

The coaches like Stanford much more than the writers (and I) do.

Clemson zooms into the top 10 after beating Va. Tech on the road.

Florida should get another butt-whoopin' this weekend. (Breaks my heart. Not.)

Yeah me neither Chris! I am Seminole! It will give me great pleasure to see the Gators get romped by LSU.

I am interested in this Stanford team. They are not world beaters, but they just keep winning, playing solid football. It would be nice to see Luck go up against the likes of an Alabama or LSU defense.

Stanford looks good, but they haven't played anyone yet. They don't have a real test until they go to USC & Oregon State in back to back weeks, and then go home to play Oregon. Cal is a rivalry game, but they get them at home so should win. Then Notre Dame...pshaw.

If they can handle that 3-game stretch in late October, early November, they could easily finish up undefeated and have their ticket punched for New Orleans.

Clemson is another team that has surprised this season - and they've gotten through the tough part of their schedule already. This is another team that could finish up undefeated pretty easily.

The question will be - if LSU finishes 11-1 or 12-1, and let's face it - going undefeated in the SEC is the toughest thing to do in college football - & both Stanford & Clemson finish undefeated, who is gonna get left out of the Championship? Its the classic case of why the BCS and bowl system sucks. All three teams would deserve a shot IMHO, but obviously only two can play the game. Although, if LSU does lose to Alabama and they win out, LSU wouldn't win the SEC & rightly be left out. That's gonna be a huge game in Tuscaloosa.

Yeah, true Frosh starting at QB with Brantley's injury? I expect Tyrann Mathieu to cover the spread all by himself. :)

Clemson still has challenging games at Ga. Tech & at So. Carolina but should win the ACC Atlantic division.

Clemson looks very good, but they would not get a bid over Wisconsin if Wisconsin wins out in the Big Ten.

Wisconsin has impressed. I personally would rank them above Stanford right now.

LSU plays Alabama & Oklahoma plays Oklahoma State. So, at least one and maybe two of the top 3 could fall down the rankings. There will an opportunities for any highly-ranked undefeated to move up.

The Big Ten finally has a Championship Game this year taking away that huge advantage that they have enjoyed.

I don't see Ga Tech as much of a challenge, but South Carolina will be a test for sure.

I feel bad for Lattimore - Spurrier is running him into the ground! That may significantly shorten his NFL career.

Been saying if for about 5 years now, might as well state it here.

Frank Beamer's maxed out at Virginia Tech. I know the man is a living legend in Blacksburg---and he's earned it. He took an afterthought program and turned it into a legit perennial Top 20 fixture. But his philosophy--recruiting and on-the-field--has taken the program as far as it's going to.

Just a matter now of how long he and/or the school is willing to let it ride. Given some of the comparables....Bowden, Paterno....it could be a while.

Sigh.
