Hall finally fesses up to his shortcomings and states the Redskins should cut him, after all his being burned in the clutch multiple times. I'm sure many here would agree on his opinion of being cut. So......

should we ?

Did he really say that?

I just don't think he is a number one CB. We need to draft or sign a superstar corner that can take over against the number one WRs and Hall can start covering the number two.

Who knows? Maybe this will be a motivating factor for him to just shut up and play.

Yeah, I don't think so either.

That might be a problem though. We need to sign or draft a lot of superstars. I don't believe that we can do all of it this offseason.

We had the chance last offseason with Asomugha and passed on it. Now we'll just have to take our lumps and try to draft a quality corner over the next couple of drafts.

If he's admitted to playing so badly, then bench him. That would really give him the wake-up call he needs. Cutting him just gives another team to sign him and play him where he's better suited.

I've stated multiple times this season that he is our biggest flaw on defense and should not be starting anywhere, ever. Damn right I think we should grant his wish for him.

I could never be a coach. I would bench guys like him until they learned basic things like tackling to force 4th down, instead of letting him constantly try to create a play by going for the strip.

I can say with confidence that his play cost us the W today. Just from what I can recall off the top of my head, his lack of effort gave Dallas 2 TDs, and allowed them to convert 2 3rd downs he had them stopped on that both lead to a TD that he was ultimately burned on. He had double fails on two TD drives by allowing them to convert third downs, then score on him. What a pathetic waste of a roster spot.

I don't think such a place exists. Is there a league full of midget receivers that are so slow that you have time to get up after you hit the turf and still catch them? Oh wait, maybe there's a leprosy league where that swatting at the ball **** actually results in a fumble because the player's arm falls off  If not, there's no place suited for him, because he just flat out isn't good. It's not the system, it's his lack of ability.

Most Skins fans thought similar things about Carlos Rogers last year, and where is he now :(

He could be the next Carlos Rogers re-incarnation. I'll go along with either benching him, or at least don't put him on the opponent's #1 receiver. For now at least, couldn't Josh Wilson make a better #1 corner ? Maybe not the ideal #1, but better than Hall.

What I meant was somewhere where he isn't the #1 CB. Somewhere where he doesn't have to cover (and get toasted) by the opposition #1 WR.

Let Barnes and Westbrook be the starters and see what they can do. Couldn't be any worse than what we already have!

What do they have to replace him with? Since the season is over I agree with SkinnedAussie to see whether Barnes and Westbrook are any better. If not, you've gotta find someone to replace him before simply cutting him.

The play that killed me was the Witten chase down. He never even tried for a tackle, but just escorted him into the endzone. Over thirty yards, a cb has got to be able to run down a te. He was close enough to at least dive for his legs and try to trip him up.

Nobody said this stuff about Carlos. We were all in agreement that he is one of the top cover corners in the league. He never gets burned, never did here either. His problem was his inability to hold on to an INT. But I'd trade every corner we have to get him back.

we dont have anybody better.
We don't have anybody worse. How can you get any worse? He gets burned multiple times per game, and always goes for the strip and fails, rather than go for the tackle. He personally gave the game away yesterday, as he has done before.

Extreme, I don't think Carlos wanted to come back. My wife and I were talking this weekend about him, and she (tangentially follows football) remembered him as the guy in teh playoff game who dropped the INT. I'm not sure Skins fans ever really forgave him for that one, and I think he knew it.

As for Hall, you can't cut him now, but I would definitely try to see if there is a team willing to give a 4th or 5th for him in the off season. We need to keep playing him, out of necessity, and also out of the hope that he has one of his monster INT games in order to better market him in the off season.

I totally agree. Your argument also explains why we couldn't just cut him.

Hall was terrible yesterday. Absolutely terrible.

Overall he's an ok CB. He's just not a superstar and shouldn't be paid superstar money. His signing is a symptom of what this team has done wrong for so many years. I don't know that I'd cut him, but this team doesn't need any more DeAngelo Halls. Not anymore.
