The Redskins finally gutted the roster this offseason and started rebuilding with younger players across the board.
This was 2 years too late IMO.
But Scot McCloughan came in and was handed a team that was little better than an expansion club.
Bruce Allen somehow saw a 3-13 team in 2013 and figured that for 2014 almost all the starting jobs were settled.
Remember that one?
This team used to be SO SLOW in getting younger guys on the field.
That has changed and is one of the reasons I see improvement coming finally.
What's the harm in a clear rebuilding year of starting Scherff and Moses together on the right side?
That's what Gibbs did in 1982-83 with Jacoby, Grimm and Bostic.
If he had continued to play average to middling 30 year old veterans, the Redskins would never have become a top offensive team.
And because we are starting a lot of younger players, we need to stay the course with them.
If they make mistakes, they make mistakes.
That's the way of the league.
The key is from Week 1 to Week 6 or 7, are the players in question making the SAME mistakes?
Or have they learned from reps and additional coaching to cut down on their miscues?
Those are the things we need to watch for.
