Choice 1: RG3. We already know that's a dead end, simply due to his injury history. We can't possibly sign him to a 5 year contract at $18 million a year, only to see him be done a year or two from now. That would set us back another 4 years. In the words of Riddick, "who are we trying to kid?" I suppose a series of 1 or 2 year contracts might be possible, but he'll balk at that--wanting financial stability for the future.
Choice 2: Colt. As a 5 year franchise QB? Next.
Choice 3: Cousins. This is the only chance we have with a QB currently on the roster.
So it really comes down to Mariota or another QB in the draft vs. Cousins, in terms of looking ahead 3 years from now.
McLovin also has to weigh out the QBs coming out next year. Are any better than Mariota? And even if so, what would we have to give in order to move up and draft that QB? 2 firsts? Maybe much more?
I don't believe he'll even have the opportunity to draft him. But I assume he's taking a vey serious look at Cousins, Mariota and Grayson right now.
