LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. – The Washington Redskins announced today that they have signed the following free agent:

Professional career
San Diego Chargers
On April 27, 2013, Hill signed with the San Diego Chargers as an undrafted free agent.[1] On August 31, 2013, Hill was released by the Chargers.

Green Bay Packers
On September 2, 2013, Hill was signed the Packers' practice squad. On September 30, 2013, Hill was signed to the Packers' active roster. Hill was waived by the Packers on October 18, 2013.

Hill was re-signed to the Packers' practice squad on October 22, 2013 after clearing waivers.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Hill was signed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers off the Packers practice squad on November 13, 2013.

Green Bay Packers
Hill returned to the Green Bay Packers for the 2014 offseason and was later released from the Green Bay Packers practice squad on November 5, 2014.

Indianapolis Colts
Hill was signed to the practice sqaud of the Indianapolis Colts on November 18, 2014.[5] He was released by the Colts on November 25, 2014.

Washington Redskins
The Washington Redskins signed Hill to their practice squad on December 9, 2014.

Return to Indianapolis
On January 6, 2015, Hill signed with the Colts.[8] He was waived on March 12.

Personal
On January 9, 2014, Hill was arrested at a Missouri bar for for failure to obey a lawful order and resisting arrest after.

He's here to push Thompson in camp as I see it. I already have Redd as a lock for primary back up to Morris.

Hard to say with the limited reps he got last season. He was pretty much handed the rock for the most part and targeted once or twice in the flat. He runs "angry"... and if he can translate that angry to blocking assignments, we could have a dangerous tandem.

True, it was in reference to Hill.
But then again, since the team is desperately looking for, and calling out for anyone who can block, you could easily interpret the "but can he block" as an invitation for any RB to step up, stand up, and stand out, as the one who can take on the blocking abilities.
As in, "Will the real blocking back, please stand up !!!"

Hill's 5'10" - he ain't blocking anyone

Portis was only an inch taller.

Size matters

Don't agree. Emmitt Smith at 5'9 was a good pass blocker for Troy Aikman.

And I'll bet the average DE/pass rusher weighs 50-100 lbs more today than they did then too. Those role players have gotten bigger even since Portis played.
