Burner's Burning Questions: Free Agency, The Mock Drafts, 2015 (Continual Updates)

I'm not sure why this fascinates me so much--to the point of taking priority over other things in my life right now, but check out how some of these scout types really break a player down.

@NFLosophy just did a quick report on QB prospect Bonner. The detail is pretty insane.

I posted just one screenshot, the final summary of the player. The 4 or 5 pages prior are extremely in-depth.

Not sure if it's giddy school girl homerism but part of me REALLY wants White at 5. 6'3 215 and 4.4 speed is just something we've missed big time... and our WR corps is going to be changing, we're going to need young talent there.

:)

you may recall that way back when (pre-Combine) I suggested that if the Raiders passed on Cooper we should seriously consider drafting him. at that time, let us say the idea was not well received.

don't disagree with ya. so long as McL goes with what is BPA in his mind.....best we can expect.

Anybody else think Gregory's too light in the britches to play OLB in the 34?

Hope that's not the pick at 5....

he is light at 240 for a DE not necessarily so for an OLB. lotta scouts think he has unique athleticism though he needs work in run defense. not making a plug - just reflecting on what I scanned during a quick search of about 20 mocks - only one of which has us selecting o-line w/the 5 pick (so that's what we'll probably do!).

anywho......

Free Agency, The Mock Drafts, 2015 (Continual Updates)

Here is our latest Redskins mock as we get closer to the draft. Team needs are plentiful and there are future players just waiting for that phone call.

Feel free to offer your own ideas about the draft, free agency, team cuts, and anything else related to these subjects. Too, we’d like to see your mocks if you are so inclined.

Without any further delays, let’s take a look at the latest mock for 2015.

Mock Draft, 2015

Round One: Vic Beasley, OLB, Clemson
Beasley the Beast! The ACC product is the best OLB prospect this year and for good reason. He is quick and agile with a multiplicity of different moves. He basically dominates games with a laser-like focus on his subjects – primarily, the quarterback. The potential for fifteen sacks or more in his first season is not a stretch.
Other Possible Targets:
Leonard Williams, DT, Southern Cal
Randy Shelton, DT, Washington
Brandon Scherff, OT, Iowa
Kevin White, WR, West Virginia
Andrus Peat, OT, Stanford
Shane Ray, OLB, Missouri

In a shocker to much of the football world, The Redskins trade QB Robert Griffin, III to the Chicago Bears for their second round pick and a fifth round selection.

Round Two: Arie Kouandjio, OG, Alabama
He is a strong run blocker who is ready to step into a starting role in the NFL. Kouandjio, seen as a likely prospect to replace Chris Chester, improved on his pass protection skills over the last two seasons. Very athletic at the point of attack and has a very successful history of man-handling the biggest and most talented of nose tackles.
Other Possible Targets:
Cody Prewitt, FS, Mississippi
Arik Armstead, DE/DT, Oregon
Kevin Johnson, CB, Wake Forest
Jordan Phillips, DT, Oklahoma
Benardrick McKinney, ILB/OLB, Mississippi St.

Round Two: Ty Sambrailo, OT, Colorado St.
A gifted athlete from the Mountain West Conference, Sambrailo has a strong work ethic and enthusiasm for the game. He was the anchor of a line that opened up holes and passing lanes for a very prolific offense. Despite his size, this massively sized offensive tackle is an accomplished freestyle snow skier who does backflips with ease.
Other Possible Targets:
See Above

Round 3: Garrett Grayson, QB, Colorado St.
The new GM spots a quality QB for the taking and pulls the trigger on the Mountain West ace. Grayson is amazingly accurate with the long ball and has great arm strength. He has a high rate of consistency and places the ball exactly where his receivers can catch it. He is equally effective under center, in the pistol, and in the shotgun.
Other Possible Targets:
Lorenzo Mauldin, OLB, Louisville
Gerod Holliman, FS, Louisville
Rashad Greene, WR, Florida St.
Daryl Williams, OT, Oklahoma
Marcus Peters, CB, Washington

Round 4: Durell Eskridge, FS, Syracuse
The Redskins add a talented free safety from the ACC. Eskridge has great size for his position, but it could be a few games or perhaps a year until he cracks the starting lineup. With the newfound depth at strong safety via free agency, the Redskins will have size, speed, strength, and needed talent at the safety positions.
Other Possible Targets:
Henry Anderson, DE, Stanford
Corey Robinson, OT, South Carolina
Laken Tomlinson, OG, Duke
Vince Mayle, WR, Washington St.
David Johnson, RB, Northern Iowa

Round Five: Jarvis Harrison, G, Texas A&M
Aggie linemen have been nothing short of spectacular in recent years and Harrison is another in a long line of great tackles and guards from the SEC power. He is massive and some scouts considered him to be the most talented in a group of standouts on A&M’s line. He should move Shawn Lauvao to the bench.
Other Possible Targets:
Donovan Smith, OT, Penn St.
Sean Mannion, QB, Oregon St.
Kaleb Eulls, DE, Mississippi St.
Corey Crawford, DE, Clemson
Xzavier Dickson, OLB, Alabama

Round Five: Taiwan Jones, ILB, Michigan St.
The Big Ten prospect has excellent size to go along with a solid game at the middle/inside linebacker position. He has a great burst to the ball, even after quickly shedding blocks. Jones is more of a running game specialist and has some weaknesses in the passing game – somewhat hidden when called upon to blitz – an area where he is very effective.
Other Possible Targets:
See Above

Round Six: Jake Smith, C, Louisville
It’s highly unlikely for Smith to push for a starting role this season, but he would have good tutors in Bill Callahan and Kory Lichtensteiger. He could be inserted into the lineup in the next year or two.
Other Possible Targets:
Matt Jones, RB, Florida
Terry Williams, DT, East Carolina
Darren Waller, WR, Georgia Tech
Jacob Hagen, FS, Liberty
Zachary Zenner, FB, South Dakota St.

Round Seven: Nick Boyle, TE, Delaware
Boyle comes from the Colonial Athletic Conference and can snag his share of receptions, but blocking is his forte. In fact, his superior blocking skillset is better than that of Logan Paulsen’s. Boyle could easily end the stay of the UCLA product.
Other Possible Targets:
Dechane Durante, FS, Northern Illinois
Tyeler Davison, DT/DE, Fresno St.
Cody Fajardo, QB, Nevada
Trey DePriest, ILB, Alabama
DaVaris Daniels, WR, Notre Dame

Hail To The Redskins!

I recall you saying the value at #5 needs to be considered when choosing a player...how many WR's go at the #5 overall pick?

depends on the quality for any given draft!

I'm not arguing for a wr - for me it's BPA. and if McL decides it's a receiver...so be it. I don't think he will. in my mind....only two scenarios make sense:

- draft a pass rusher; or,

- trade down and go o-line plus next immediate need

if we draft o-line w/the 5 pick I'll believe that to be bad strategy and poor cap management....but we'll get talent.

BB: that seems like a short list of interviews for an entire staff. only one guard? is this just what can be drawn from on-line sources? or is it no kidding drawn from some official "you have to report who you speak to" list?

I like this latest mock the best, BB. If only because I used my powers of Dart at the Board to predict, weeks ago, that we would indeed draft Vic Beastley at #5. In addition, my vast pre-draft investigative scouting, (20 minute Google search for TE prospects in this coming draft) decided that Nick Boyle was the guy we needed. Though I did not predict it, until now. Nor have clue what round, if any, we would acquire him in.

Also, to reiterate what we all often say around here, but bears repeating, thanks for all your work on this. For guys like me who don't watch a lick of college football, it helps me add to my unmatched mad skills of selecting players I don't know Jack shit about. :)

Now that feels like a solid draft, BB.

I have a question for you. Is this thread your current prediction of what will happen, or just a possible scenario?

Randy Gregory or Danny Shelton? How you get Randy Shelton? :dizzy2:

Jenkins signs with Bears, one year at minimum.

Another of the 'lost' class of 2011 finds a new home.

Another excellent mock, BB.

One thing I can't help but notice, however, is the number of times McLuvin seems to emphasize the interview process when he's asked about the draft which makes me wonder if our estimates of who is going to be on his "short list" should be narrowed or adjusted to put those players listed as having been either interviewed or at least contacted closer to the top of the list of players with a high probability of being on the Redskins draft board come the end of April?

Huge disappointment. The way he burst on the scene in his rookie preseason I was thinking we might actually finally have a difference-making big man up front.

We'll never know how much the injury played a role in his turning out to be just a guy.

As far as Gregory is concerned, I'd rather trade down a couple spots and draft Dupree.

Bigger,stronger,faster......

same thing I was wondering about Serv. I doubt that he interviewed players last year when he was strictly pay for service....would be interesting to know his hit ratio last year!

You took it personal...I meant you didn't like my posts as my stance on them.

His numbers went from 1105 to 698 after the Sherman incident. It's not a coincidence.

correct me if im wrong but the sherman incident was the same year Seattle went to the superbowl which the 1100 year was the year San fran went to the superbowl

No doubt...

Edit: Meant for the RRT thread but works here too.
